REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, [WEEK] OF FEBRUARY 1, 1909. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. Two or three of the acts in the early part of the bill are not very satisfactory, but once the show gets well started, it is a corker. From the Reed Brothers down everything scores. Bailey & Pickett Comedy barrel jumping act. Just good enough to open the show in a continuous house. 10 Min. F. S. 3 shows. The Ashers Colored man and woman. Usual act of this kind, which just got by in this spot. 12 Min. in One, 3 shows. Adair, Dale & D'Armond Too bad. Grace Leonard In this house Miss Leonard won't do from a two-a-day standpoint. For her first two songs she didn't get a hand. Her third song got considerable applause, but $100 a week for one song and the entire act running 8 Minutes is rather an expensive luxury. Will have to flag Miss Leonard in the future. Reed Brothers Comedy ring act. Splendid value for the money which closed the show in the afternoon most satisfactorily, the show running late, but as I get better results for the rest of my show by a change, I have moved them up to this position. 15 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Mr. Quick Mr. Quick was very slow in getting here, not arriving from Dayton until 2.30, not in time to go on in his scheduled place. Nevertheless made a hit in the heart of the two-a-day section. 12 Min. in One, 3 shows. Rainer's Tyroleans Hats off to Mr. B. F. Keith. He has given us this season two of the best acts of this year, Annette Kellerman and this act. Rainer's Tyroleans is an act full of atmosphere and splendid choral singing, as well as characteristic dances. It is a treat to hear the genuine yoddling after the attempts made by many American performers. The act was a distinct hit and could have held the headline position with perfect safety. They did 25 Minutes and the audience wanted more. They can close in One. I heartily disagree with the manager who told them to interpolate "Suanee River" and "Kentucky Home", which took away the foreign atmosphere of the act and was out of the picture. My arrangement is to cut these American songs out, using one for an encore in One if necessary after the act is completely finished. Gus Williams This veteran held his position with credit to himself Made good better than many of the $300 and $400 monologuists we have had. 17 Min. in One, 2 shows. Exposition Four One of the most versatile and attractive acts of its kind in vaudeville. 17 Min. F.S. closing in One, 2 shows. Violet Allen & Co. In an attractive novelty that made good thoroughly. 20 Min. in One, 2 shows. Mr. Hymack An improvement in his act over last season. A decided hit. 12 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Cooper & Robinson Practically last season's act. Nevertheless made good in this spot with the afternoon show 15 Minutes late. 17 Min. in One, 2 shows. Circumstantial Evidence To my mind the best dramatic sketch I ever saw and one that I am sure will draw money. A good story, splendidly presented in every detail. 20 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Motion Pictures O.K.
