Report on show (Columbus) week February 8th. W. W. Prosser. HILL, CHERRY & HILL: 3 men in a cycle act; two of them work straight, one comedy. They do a lot of very clever stuff, although the comedy end is not particularly strong. There was scattered applause throughout the act and the finish was strong. It made a very good opening act. 20 minutes, landscape in 5. JOHNNY JOHNS: Black face comedian who sings and does a little talking. He had a very hard game this afternoon and just about got away with it. I think he will be better during the week, however. Would term this just from ordinary to fair act. 12 minutes, street in 1. WILLA HOLT WAKEFIELD: Song reader. Miss Wakefield got along very well but really didn't receive the approval that she merits for there is no question but that she is one of the most artistic women on the stage and one thoroughly deserving of unqualified approval. She finally won her way out nicely and was given a number of calls at the finish. I look for this act to be a distinct hit before the week is over. Special in 2, 12 minutes. WATSON & MORRISSEY SISTERS: Man and two women in a singing and dancing act. They make a very good appearance but the work was only fairly well received. At the finish there was but small evidence of approval. Oleo, 12 minutes in one. EMMET DEVOY & CO.: Dramatic fantasy, "In Dreamland". Practically the same act I played two years ago. The act went very well and seemed to win unqualified approval. There is no fault to find with either the act or the manner in which it is presented. Interior in 3, 25 minutes. HARRY GILFOIL: Well known act in his famous character of "Baron Sands". Delivers the same material as of old. Made a genuine hit. Up to this time he was by far the hit of the bill. Nothing but good things can be said of Gilfoil as he is deserving of all favorable mention. Oleo in 1, 14 minutes. MADAME RENZ: Well known High School Riding act. A beautiful act presented in a most satisfactory manner. She won applause throughout and finished very strong. 12 minutes, special set in 5. MOTION PICTURES: O. K. COMMENT: This bill looks very strong on paper but it really is not so in fact. Johnny Johns and Watson & Morrissey Sisters are the two low spots.
