GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURG, PA., FEB. 22D, 09. FOUR REDDINGS-8 minutes, palace. "The World's Greatest Athletes". This act is very similar to The Bard Bros. and while their work is very good, I do not consider them the equal of The Bards. PHIL BENNETT- 8 minutes, olio. 3 shows. "Yodler & Character Singer". A very good singing act. I have him on at 2.20 and 8:20 and he is going very well. HOLDIN'S MANIKINS- 22 minutes. "Whole Show in Miniature". Without a doubt this is the best manikin act we have ever played. Going very big at every performance. THE QUIGLEY BROS.- 18 minutes, olio. "Irish Gabblers". This is the first time in two years that we have played this act and they are going fully as big as they did on their first appearance here. I am agreeably surprised at the hit they are making. They are surely the best laughing act on the bill. THE PIERROTTS-Special drop, full stage, "Singing and Piano Playing". 22 minutes. This act is similar to The Gems but not quite so good. However, they are going well and think they are worth the money they are getting. WILLA HOLT WAKEFIELD-15 minutes, special drop in one. "Song Readings" Miss Wakefield is going very well with us. She has a manager with her who has not been very successful in dictating the policy of our house. After his third appearance on Monday he decided to allow me to manage the theatre. NEIL BURGESS & CO.- in "The County Fair". 27 minutes, special full stage. The worst lot of actors we have ever played. However, the big crowd, twelve or fifteen people, the "County Fair", Neil Burgess and the race, make the act all right. It will draw us some money and the race more than makes good. Had I seen this act before booking it I would not have hesitated to play it. AVERY & HART- 18 minutes in one. "Comedians, Singers and Dancers". Doing very well in a hard place-next to closing the show. ONLAW TRIO- 15 minutes, full stage, palace. "Novelty Wire Act". The best act of the kind we have ever played. John P. Harris.
