-2- "Circumstantial Evidence." On at 3.16, 21 minutes, full stage. Second and final week. This sketch has created a tremendous amount of talk, and is undoubtedly one of the big successes of the year. We are to give a special performance Tuesday at 11 A. M., for members of the Mass. Legislature, the Mass. Judiciary and the Boston bar. It looks as though it would be a crack-a-jack press stunt. Long Acre Quartette. On at 3.37, 16 minutes in one. An extremely good singing act, with a phenomenal tenor it would be the best in vaudeville to-day. The baritone and bass have exceptional voices. This is a hard spot for any act, but this one scored here to-day. Next season for me. The Flying Martins. On at 3.53, 7 minutes full stage, special cyclorama drop. A great exhibition of sensational trapeze work. These two young chaps are well built and work with a rapidity that is simply breath taking. Am particularly pleased to have them this week for Delmore and Lee are at the Orpheum, and I feel that the comparisons that are sure to be made will all be in favor of the Martins. Claire Romaine. On at 4.00, 21 minutes in one. Miss Romaine did very well for us to-day. She has some good songs, and she certainly makes a most attractive appearance in her boy's suits. Am confident that she will do much better to-night and the rest of the week, and am not sorry that her engagement is for two weeks. Jeff De Angelis & Co. On at 4.21, 23 minutes full stage. This act must be classed among the luxuries at its price, for I do not think the drawing power of De Angelis' name is worth the difference between the actual value of the sketch, about $500 at the outside, and its present price. Almost any good low comedian could do as well in the part as he. I would be happier if De Angelis had found it impossible to play here on account of rehearsals. Kinetograph. On at 4.44. "On the Zambezi"--A capital scenic film. "Saved by his Dog."--A very good picture. "It's Only the Painter."--A fair comic. La Rose Brothers. On at 5.12, 9 minutes full stage. Two fairly good acrobats in an old fashioned trick house affair that has no particular merit. Would not care to play them again. Gates and Blake. On at 5.21, 18 minutes in one. Parody singers, one straight, the other a Hebrew character. Have some good stuff and should be valuable for the small houses. Cuts.--Hugh J. Emmett--Reference to "bad girls," "joints", "whiskey" and "you should see her when she gets up in the morning." Harry B. Lester--"Married but not to each other." "Laying eggs." All material about sheath gown. "Run down in the middle of the night" Jeff De Angelis & Co.--Use of the word "God" La Rose Bros--Mock prayer. Comment--While I am not particularly pleased with the way the show went this afternoon, I still have confidence that it will look like a different affair to-night. Have made several changes which I trust will make it run better. (Later) It did, and seemed like a real show.
