REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF MARCH 8, 1909. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week, though not a great one, is very pleasing throughout, the audience today evincing decided satisfaction with nearly all the numbers. Kit Karson Novelty wire walking and sharp shooting. Good little act for the three-a-day section. 10 Min. F.S. 3 shows. Seymour & Nestor Woman and boy in a character singing act. The boy has a most melodious voice. Could hold a better spot than this with satisfaction. 15 Min. in One, 3 shows. The Chameroys Man and woman, acrobatic, hand balancing, the woman doing the heavy work. A satisfactory act in this place. 10 Min. F.S. 3 shows. Smith and Heagney Owing to the non-arrival of baggage and the failure of one of the team to make his appearance they did not go on at the first show. Hugh Emmett & Co. Ventriloquial act. Splendid value for the money. He did 24 Min. today, giving us an 8 Min. close in one. Opened in two. Two shows. Arthur [Ruston?] This act is one of the best novelties, for the money at least, that we have had in a good while. The opening, showing the jungle, with tropical birds, monkeys, et cetera, got a big hand. The juggling amounts to little but the pantomime and comedy is good. 15 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Worthy of a better spot on the bill. Gordon Eldrid & Co. This act seemed to give pleasure to the audience but I was somewhat disappointed in it nevertheless. I hardly think it is worth any more than it is getting at present, if as much. 20 Min. opening in one with Nine Minutes, closing F. S. 2 shows. Long Acre Quartette Another act that, to my mind, did not come up to expectations, being very weak in the tenor. The audience seemed pleased, principally on the work of the baritone and bass. 16 Min. in One, 2 shows. Bert Levy Well-known act which met with its usual success. 17 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Donovan & Arnold Some new material and a lot that Jim has been using for a good many years. The audience laughed heartily, however, even at some of the oldest of them and the act may be said to have scored. 20 Min. in One, 2 shows. Agnes Scott and Horace Wright Unquestionably the dainties sketch in vaudeville. Good enough to be the headliner in any bill in the world. 23 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Avery & Hart Well-known colored act. Did not hold this spot satisfactorily. 19 Min. in One. Mirza Golem Troupe The work of these people is as great as any I have ever seen but they ought to be spanked for wearing such cheap costumes and using such common trappings, which, besides being cheap, were worn and dirty. It should be made part of their next contract that they get a decent outfit. 10 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Motion Pictures O.K.
