REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF MARCH 15, 1909. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. I am very well satisfied with the bill this week. It has strength and blends well. McNamee Well-known clay modeller. Alright in this spot. 10 Min in One, 3 shows. Gorman & West In a new act, mostly singing and dancing. Not as satisfactory as the old by any means. 12 Min. open in One, close F. S. 3 shows. Tom Bateman English comic singer and skipping rope dancer. Very satisfactory act for the money. Safe in an early two-a-day spot. 12 Min. in One, 3 shows. Sherbrooke & Berry Act has been described along the line. It went quite well in this spot. 12 Min. in One, 3 shows. Dixon Brothers Eccentric musical comedians and pantomimists. It is so long since we had an act of this kind that it seemed like a novelty. The audience was decidedly pleased with their work. 17 Min. F. S. can close in One, 2 shows. Al Carleton Well-known singing comedian and monologuist who faired first rate in this spot. 15 Min. in One, 2 shows. Operatic Four Two men and two women - Boston people - referred to me by Mr. Lothrop, who are making their first vaudeville appearance and who have been given the above title for want of another name. The tenor in the act is excellent. Miss Marion Littlefield, contralto, I should call fairly good from a high-grade standpoint. The other two people I do not care for at all. They first sing a number of Neapolitan songs of pleasing melody and close with the Rigoletto Quartette. The audience liked them immensely, almost every number getting good applause and very strong at the finish. Personally I think the tenor carried them through. I have an idea that the act would be better with Miss Littlefield and the tenor alone, but if the audience is any critic no one can make any mistake playing the act as i it is unless they want too much money. 17 Min. open in Two, close in One, 2 shows. Kalmer & Brown A singing and dancing act built on the lines of Bock & Fulton. I consider these people better dancers than the aforementioned more noted couple, and, given a production and booming, I think they would score fully as well. I'll play these people, difference in price considered. 15 Min. open F. S. close in One. 2 shows. Walter Lewis & Co. Comedy sketch "A Baby Grand". A good little act that is worth the money and evidently pleased this afternoon 15 Min. in Two, 2 shows. Dunedin Troupe One of the best acts of the kind we have ever had. A decided hit. 15 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Niblo's Birds A decidedly strong novelty which, while it received no great amount of applause, it was quite apparent that the audience was interested and highly entertained. I am quite sure it will draw money. would ever occur to an outsider. And surely only to very few if it did occur at all. The audience were immensely pleased with the act and I noted the faces of the ladies around me and failed to discover one sign of disapproval. It went with shrieks of approval and laughter and I am sure it will be a drawing card during the week. Motion Pictures O.K.
