GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURG, PA., MARCH [8th?], 09. ALBA- 10 minutes, full stage. German strong woman doing an act similar to that of Paul Conchas. A rather remarkable performance for a woman. She catches cannon balls thrown at her from a catapult; juggles a field piece and Krupp shell. While not as strenuous a performance as that of Conchas, considering a woman is doing it the act certainly makes good for us. EDNA LUBY- 13 minutes, olio, "Impersonations of Prominent Players". I am sure we do not care to play Miss Luby a return. Not nearly so good as on her former visits here. FLO IRWIN & CO. in "Mrs. Mix Mixes". 17 minutes, full stage. This is Mrs. Peckham's Carouse" under the above name. We should have taken a hundred dollars from Miss Irwin's salary on account of her very bad cast. I am sure we do not want to play her a return. RANIER'S TYROLEANS- 20 minutes, full stage. Singing and dancing. A very good singing act. Being different from anything we have played in a long while, it was a big hit. CHAS. P. SEMON- 24 minutes. Opening in one to full stage, interior, then closing in one. The same big hit as he always is at this house. WM. H. THOMPSON & CO. in "Waterloo". Full stage, special, 27 minutes. A great sketch with a great star and a good cast. However, I think that vaudeville patrons would prefer to see Mr. Thompson in a more modern sketch. HOWARD & LAUGHLIN. In their sketch "Entertaining my Big Sister's Beau". 20 minutes, interior, full stage, closing in one three minutes. This act is doing very well for us. I consider Miss Laughlin more clever than Mabel Barrison. REIFF BROS. Singing and dancing act. 13 minutes. Olio in one. This act was much better before the boys imagined they were comedians. If they would stick entirely to their singing and dancing the act would go much better but their attempt at comedy is painful. They have always been a big hit in this house until this week. They are going very badly. MORTON JEWELL TROUPE- 9 minutes, full stage. A very good club juggling act, closing the show and going big. John P. Harris. CUTS GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURG, MARCH 8th, 09. JOSEPH E. HOWARD-Please cut out the "egg joke" and the lines about the "dog license". REIFF BROS.-Kindly omit "damn" from "damn fine Irishman". CHARLES SEMON-Please leave out the verses about "pulling the stopper in the bath tub" and "sitting on the false teeth". DEVAN BROS-Please cut out the business of kicking one another.
