Report on Columbus Show for week of Mch. 22, 1909. W. W. Prosser. ALBA: The female Paul Conchas. She does a series of stunts with cannon balls, shell and cannon similar to those offered by Conchas. Considering the fact that it is a woman doing the work it was unusually good. She received quite a bit of encouragement all through the act and finished strong. 10 minutes, wood in 4. GLADYS ARNOLD & EDWIN FELIX: In what they term a sketch entitled "What The Moon Saw". There were a few faint laughs and a mite of applause through the act and at the finish there was nothing doing. Didn't seem to like them at all. Special set in one, 14 minutes. HARLAN KNIGHT & COMPANY: Rural comedy sketch, "The Chalk Line". An act of Way Down East order, telling an excellent story which is a happy combination of comedy and pathos. The idea of the act is unique and it is most excellent presented. It went big from beginning to end. Two men and one woman in the act, each of whom plays the roll assigned most competently. It was an unqualified success. Special in 4, interior, 28 minutes. PEARL & YOSCO: Harpist and singer. Well known act and one that got by fine. All the work, both individual and ensemble, was appreciated and scored heavily. 17 minutes, street in one. CHASSINO: Shadowgraphist. This fellow is a wonder when it comes to making shadow pictures, and there is nothing on the bill this week that has anything on him in any way. He was given round after round of applause throughout the act and the finish was unusually strong. Palace in four, 11 minutes. BARRY & WOLFORD: Man and woman - "Tip Top Tickle Talkers". They have a good line of comedy songs and they made good from beginning to end. They were compelled to respond several times at the finish of their act. Went as big as anything on the bill up to this point. Oleo in one, 15 minutes. BIRDLAND: Jesse L. Lashy's operatta. This act shows a very attractive set but none of the work, either individually or collectively, seemed to make much of an impression. There was some half-hearted applause scattered along the way and the finish was fairly good, but no especially strong. Personally I cannot see much to this act but sincerely hope that the audiences for the week will not agree with me. It may pick up and go better, at least I very much hope so. Special set in 5, 22 minutes. MOVING PICTURES: O. K.
