C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MARCH 23-09. 95 VALVENO & LAMORE. 15 min. Formerly the Valveno Bros. One man works straight, the other eccentric. The regulation ground tumbling and funny-fall act. Comedy fair. Use table, chair and tumbling mat. Act includes some muscular posing. GILL & AKER. 12 min. This is a fair act. The novelty is the woman ventriloquist, whose work with the two dummies received some scattered applause. Line of humor not strong. The surprise finish got a good hand, however. SIX MUSICAL NOSSES. 18 min. This is a mighty good act. It is admirably dressed with three changes of stunning costumes. The stage representing "Old Seville" is very effective. They play mandolins, cornets, violins, saxophones and full-band instruments, and play them all exceedingly well whether alone or ensemble. Good applause after each selection. Strong close. Could hold a cream spot on any bill where a musical act is needed. EVANS & LEE. 9 min. This is a good act. Boys begin with a song introducing dances of all nations, then proceed to their eccentric dancing and wooden shoe work. Good applause after each selection. The finish with the eccentric work got a splendid round of applause, as it well deserved. Good act for next season. EDWINA BARRY & CO. "The Home Breaker." 22 min. This is one corking good comedy sketch. In fact, it is a laugh all the way through. Edwina Barry, as the servant girl who has a passion for being kissed and collecting photographs of her victims, is very funny and the idea is a novel. one. The audience was delighted with the sketch and showed appreciation by laughter and applause throughout and a strong finish. NELSON & OTTO. 19 min. These are two mighty clever girls, making a charming appearance and are the real goods when it comes to piano work, dancing and ballad singing. Their work, whether singly or together, was very well appreciated. Could have done 10 minutes more without tiring their audience. Closed strong. This is a particularly classic act that would appeal to the evening audiences, and should be booked next season. MIRZA-GOLEM TROUPE. 10 min. This is one great Oriental novelty, and is absolutely new in much of the ground tumbling and the risley work. They start off with a very showy Oriental procession, proceeding to some remarkable work on high poles, on the bounding mat and risley platforms. The act is swift and skilful all the way through, and some of the feats are positively thrilling. The audience gave them big applause for every one of their feats. A hit all through. GEORGE WHITING & CLARKE SISTERS. 19 min. Well known. The two girls make a good appearance in two changes of costume, and sing well. Good selection of songs. The frog song was a hit. A lively act, filling a hard spot in a satisfactory manner. NEIL BURGESS & CO. "The County Fair." 24 min. This act is sure to be a big winner in this town, as Burgess is a great favorite. Received a big advance hand and everything he said and did all through his play got good applause and laughter. The act shows the difficulty of boiling down a big play into a vaudeville feature, but it has been well done. Will run smoother after one or two more performances. interesting on account of Roosevelt's prospective visit to Africa. "A Pretty Little Milliner." Lively comedy film. LOUIS M. GRANAT. 9 min. A good whistling act, as whistling acts go and all right for a small spot. Have an idea that whistling acts are no longer very popular. Received some applause. JULES HARRON. 15 min. Some German songs and a line of patter that got by fairly well. Also gave some imitations. Worthy of an obscure spot only in a house like this, but might get by better in the smaller houses. GENERAL REMARKS. This is certainly a swift show, and no mistake. Everybody more than pleased. No less than three would make acceptable closers -- The Dunedin Troupe, "The County Fair" abd Miran-Golem Trouple. Certainly if the people want big returns for their money, they will get it this week in this exceptional bill.
