KEITH'S HIPPODROME. Cleveland, Ohio. March, 22nd, 1909. Ned S. Hastings. POTTER & HARRIS. F.S. Time 6 Man and woman. Neat and attractive ring work and general light acrobatics. Good opener. BASQUE GRAND OPERA QUARTETTE. In 1. Time 15. 3 men, 1 woman. Operatic selections in French, English and Italian. One of the best ever heard here. Everything excellent. Scored a big hit with encore. SWAN & BAMBARD. Open in 3. Close in 1. 5ime, 16. Eccentric comedy acrobats. The headspins of one of the men are novel and score heavily. A little comedy singing. KITAMURA JAPANESE TROUPE. 9 Japs. Special elaborate back drop in F.S., Acrobats, jugglers and perch workers. The setting is beautiful and gets a big hand at rise of curtain. Work characteristically Japanese, with a few European stunts. Time 15. NORA KELLY. In 2. Time 15. Assisted by Max Sanders at the piano. Costume songs. Almost a total failure. While attractive personally, her voice is very poor. Her "kid" impersonation at least is good; but considering the act as a whole, it is poor. BUCKNER'S THREE DEMONS. 2 men, 1 woman. F.S. Time 10. Special revolving circular track. This is a novelty, although crudely worked out. The sensation consists in riding upon the platform on bicycles, against the counter motion of the revolving track. Fair. COOPER & ROBINSON. Colored. 2 men. Singing and talking comedians. Material mostly new. Big hit. THE LOVE WALTZ. 10 men, 9 women. Time 36. Special fantastic interior F.S., attractive. Scenery and costumes excellent. Ensemble singing good. Advertise 22, only 19 in Cleveland. Also "The Eight Minute Kiss" is missing although advertised. I can see no reason for insisting that either Kapeller of Maple should be featured. Their work does not justify it. Kapeller is out-sung by half a dozen male voices with the cast. The act is sort of a miniature copy of "The Merry Widow" without either the music or the action of the famous opera. It is entirely too long, and the comedy becomes dreary. A big disappointment here. Went indifferently.
