GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURG, PA., MARCH 22D, 09. THE MILITARY OCTETTE- 23 minutes, full stage, special. Have not played this act in three years. I think it is the one Lasky act that has been kept up. In my opinion it is just as good now as it was the first season we played them. It is going well at every performance. LINTON & LAWRENCE-20 minutes, full stage interior, closing in one 2 minutes. A very good singing and talking sketch. On account of the illness of Miss Linton the act was out of the bill four performances this week. VIOLET ALLEN & CO. "Keeping an Appointment". 18 minutes in one. A very bad act. EDWIN STEVENS & CO in "An Evening with Dickens" 26 min., full stage, interior. One of the best things that Mr. Stevens has ever done. Miss Marshall has improved very much and the characters portrayed by both Mr. Stevens and Miss Marshall are as good as anything we have had in our house. A big hit. MR QUICK-Comedy cartoonist, Olio in one, 15 minutes. Going well at every performance. This is an act that should get a blanket contract at once as the price is very reasonable. MR. & MRS. GARDNER CRANE & CO. - Exterior. 28 minutes, special. I do not consider this act worth $500. If it were getting $300 I think it would be well paid. In my opinion Mr. Crane is a very bad actor and while Mrs. Crane has always been a clever woman, she is not good in this. The part is entirely out of her line. I am sorry I have them. HOWARD & NORTH in "Back in Wellington". 18 minutes, special in one. A greater hit than "Those were Happy Days". Undoubtedly the hit of our bill. HOWARD'S MUSICAL PONIES AND COMEDY DOGS-16 min., full stage, special. best trained ponies and dogs we have played. THE BELLCLAIRE BROS.- 9 min., opening in one 7 min., closing full stage 2 min. The greatest act of the kind we have ever played, every trick receiving applause. If not booked for next season I would advise getting them at once. John P. Harris.
