REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF MARCH 29th, 1909. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The show did not come up to expectations because some of the big acts did not do as well as I had hoped they would. The fall-down was principally on the comedy end, the best satisfaction being given by the sight and musical acts. Zano Comedy magician. All right for three shows. 12 Min. open F. S. close in one. 3 shows. La Belles Well-known comedy juggling act worthy of a better spot. 14 Min. open F. S. close in One, 3 shows. Elsie Harvey & Boys This act also could hold a better place on the bill. In fact is O.K. for No. 2. in almost any house. 13 Min. in One, 3 shows. Percy Plunkett & Edna Reming In a rural comedy sketch, "Not in the Choir". Miss Reming is very good and Mr. Plunkett I think will develope when he gets more vaudeville atmosphere. The sketch seemed to please this afternoon and I believe a $150 it would be worth playing. 18 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Fredricks Raymond Trio Operatic vocalists. These people have good, but not great, voices, but they make a splendid appearance and their music is well arranged. They made a decided hit and at the price is a bargain in any house that likes good singing. 15 Min. open with their own drop in Two, closing in One if necessary. 2 shows. Jennings & Renfrew Songs, parodies and jokes, similar to the Dillon Brothers - except that it is given in black face - and to my mind is almost as good. They always score in this house. 13 Min. in One, 2 shows. Wills & Hassan Hand and head balancers and probably the best act of the kind we ever had in the house. If this were an importation we would all break our necks to get them at twice the salary. Some of their tricks are nothing short of marvellous. 11 Min. F. S. closing in One. Midgely & Carlisle This act didn't seem to go with its old time vim. Hope for better results tonight. 22 Min. open F. S. close in One. 2 shows. The Pianophiends I think the act is in better shape than last year, but did not seem to make a tremendous hit. 19 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Chas. Leonard Fletcher Well-known act that scored as strongly as anything in the bill. 25 Min. opening and closing in one. Three Bounding Gordons Three youthful looking chaps who give us one of the most sensational acrobatic acts we ever played. 12 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Press Eldridge Failed to make his accustomed hit. About $100 overpaid. 20 Min. in One. Pat Rooney & Co. I felt a little bit shaky about this act and my apprehensions were justified. It failed to make a hit in any sense. Really I would rather have the Rooney & Bent act at the same salary. 20 Min. F. S. Motion Pictures O.K. This is the final week of the continuous performances. Next week begins the policy of two shows a day - 3 hours show, 9 acts and pictures, beginning at 1.45 and 7.30 p.m.
