Six Musical Cuttys. On at 3.22, 14 minutes full stage, 4 minutes close in one, 18 minutes in all. To my mind the best musical act in vaudeville. Scored strongly as they always do here. From a conversation I had this morning with William Cutty it seems that he has received some flattering offers from the opposition and is looking for a substantial raise in salary for next season. He calmly mentioned $750 for the big houses and $600 for such small houses as wish to play him. He is undoubtedly bluffing a bit and can probably be booked at considerably less, although most of the big acts seem to think that it is simply a case of saying "Hands up" and taking all they can find. Lancton, Lucier & Co. On at 3.40, 19 minutes full stage, 5 minutes close in one, 24 minutes in all. This act was scheduled for a much earlier place on the bill, but their trunks did not arrive until 3 o'clock, so we had to put them on in the first possible spot. It is due them to state that they held this place in great shape. It is one of the best low comedy acts we have played this season. The only changes I found it necessary to make was to request the lady to fasten up her burlesque sheath gown and to modify the business on the sofa. Lucier is certainly a great grotesque comedian. A three minute wait. "A Night in an English Music Hall." On at 4.07, 21 minutes full stage, special set. First time in this house. Although not to be compared with the original company, still the fellow who plays the inebriated swell does extremely well and the act got an immense amount of laughs. It gives this bill the big comedy finish that it needs. Kinetograph. On at 4.28. "Venice"--A very interesting picture. "The Story of a Curtain Pole"--After giving this the Koely Cure, but cutting out the booze, it makes a very good comedy picture. Why it is necessary for drink to be introduced into every alleged humorous film is beyond me. Sansone and Delilah. On at 4.52, 8 minutes full stage. It is a pity to be obliged to use this really excellent sensational juggling and athletic exhibition in this spot. Could open any show, could close many shows and could hold a good spot in most shows. Harry George. On at 5.00, 15 minutes in one. Impersonator of Harry Lauder. As such he is all right, in fact better than most I have seen, but the Lord deliver me from any more impersonators of Harry Lauder. Gaines & Brown. On at 5.15, 16 minutes in one. Two colored boys who are above the ordinary run of real coon acts. They sing well and have some excellent comedy material.
