REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF APRIL 26th, 1909. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. There is absolutely no fault to find with this bill and with such a magnet as Eva Tanguay backed up by a most satisfactory show, there is every reason to look for a big week's business. Four Musical Kleises 2.05 and 7.37 A man and woman and two small children in an instrumental musical act. The man and woman play their instruments fairly well, but the act really depends upon one of the children, both of whom are exceedingly small, for some comedy work and an imitation of Sousa at the finish leaves them very strong. In houses where children are permitted to play I should advise using this act in an early spot. Especially good for the smaller cities. 17 Min. open F. S. Close in One. Bowen, Lina & Moll 2.22 and 7.54 Two men and a woman in a combination bar, casting and a little trapeze. This is a very good act, built on rather new lines and they do some very good tricks, the women doing all the catching. The comedy also gets over pretty well and if the act had better dressing and paraphenalia it could be made an important feature. 12 Min. F. S. Gaston & Green 2.34 and 8.06 This act is too well known to require description. It went exceedingly well today and I should be glad to have them for a return date next season. 18 Min. open in Two, short close in One. Robert Roberts and Louise Mackintosh On at 2.52 and 8.24 In a sketch entitled "The Green Mouse". This is a pretty good legitimate comedy sketch, but is not played with as much ginger as some other people might infuse into it, but it is thoroughly alright to play once in almost any house. 20 Min. F.S. Harry Atkinson 3.12 and 8.44 This is Mr. Atkinson's first appearance as a single entertainer since the division of the team of the Kinsons. He is doing the same act that he formerly did, which was satisfactory in this spot. 10 Min. In One. Clara Belle Jerome & Co. in "Joyland" 3.22 and 8.54 This act was hardly up to my expectations. In fact it comes down to the point that no girl acts are cared for in this house as I have said many times. The fat legs of these little "squabs" may have a little drawing power and in houses where girl acts are liked it will be alright, but I can't see the value for the money paid. 23 Min. F. S. Hoey & Lee 3.45 and 9.17 This act got more applause during the action of the act itself than anything on the bill, altho Tanguay got more at the finish. It is probably one of the best acts in One for this house that we have played this season. 19 Min. in One. Kelly & Barrett 4.04 and 9.35 In &The Battle of Too Soon". While they got many laughs and the act may be rated as being successful it did not seem to arouse the enthusiasm that it did on previous visits. 17 Min. F. S. Eva Tanguay 4.21 and 9.52 There is no denying Miss Tanguay's drawing power as the business today and the advance sale proves and she was a decided hit. What more can I say? 23 Min. in One. Mangean Troupe 4.45 and 10.15 A very good quintette of acrobats. 7 Min. F.S. Motion Pictures O.K.
