Report on Columbus Show for the week of Apr. 26, 1909. W. W. Prosser. REED BROS.: Two men in an exceedingly clever exhibition of feats of strength. One of the best acts that has ever played the house. All of the work is clean cut and finished. One of the men introduces a slight vein of comedy. Won applause throughout and finished strong. 15 minutes, C. D. F. LAURA BUCKLEY: Quite a unique act in the line of a protean monologist. Opens in one with a song, goes to special drop 1 1/2 from the center of which she exits and enters after having made up as various characters. For a single woman act it is very good and made a distinctly favorable impression. She introduces three or four characters all of which are cleverly done. I would term this a very good "little" act. 17 minutes, special in 1 1/2. TROVOLLO: Well known ventriloquist, who made a decidedly favorable impression. Quite novel, and the act went well. Laughs throughout and a strong finish. Special set in 4, 21 minutes. W. C. FIELDS: Well known juggler. Went big throughout. Took him just a few minutes to wake them up but they finally got on to the fact that he was the real article and he had everything his own way.from that on. Absolutely O. K. 17 minutes, palace in 4. THE FOUR FORDS: Same excellent dancing act as ever. Couldn't possibly find fault if I wished to. Went big. Two specials in 2 & 4, 19 minutes. ALICE LLOYD: This well known artists was given a reception when she entered. While she was not a riot all of her songs went big and she held the stage for 31 minutes, so I guess that's the answer. Everybody seemed to be pleased with her. She is a very clever woman but I don't think she will develop the great drawing power of Tanguay. 30 minutes, oleo in 1. JEAN CLERMONT'S CIRCUS: A novel animal act of ponies, dogs, chickens, etc., but only moderately good. Seems to be a sort of a drag. Some of the stunts were very favorably received and others just about got by. The act finished very well, however, and no particular fault to find. 18 minutes, landscape in 5. MOVING PICTURES: O. K.
