REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK of MAY 10, 1909. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week plays very well indeed. Every act scored a hit. Dailey Brothers Acrobats, hand and head balancers. A good lively act introducing some exceptional tricks. Good enough to open the show in any house and to close in many. 8 Min. F. S. Chalk Saunders Clever act with crayon drawing that pleased. 10 Min. in One. Devlin & Ellwood Comedy sketch, which has been described from other houses. Man not exceptional but woman very good. Pleased the audience. 18 Min. F. S. Frosini Concertinist who made his usual hit. 11 Min. in One. Brown, Harris & Brown Well-known act that scored as always. 26 Min. opens F. S. Close in One. "The Van Dyck" The Boston report goes for here. Act went very well indeed. 16 Min. F. S. Williams & Walker Glee Club Sixteen colored men singing in true musical style and made good decidedly. 21 Min. Open F. S. Close in One. Wormwood's Animals Created the same strong impression here that it has all along the line, the bicycle riding of the monkeys being little short of marvelous. 18 Min. F. S. Motion Pictures O.K. This is our last week of the vaudeville season, but we would like to have the other vaudeville theatres continue to send us their reports all summer. Will resume sending ours to those who want them when we re-open with vaudeville. KEITH'S PROSPECT. Cleveland, Ohio. Ned Hastings. May 17th 1909 IRENE LA TOUR. 3 garden. Time, 9. Contortionist, hand walking, and comedy pantomime. Neat and graceful work. The act is helped out a good bit by the work of "Zaza", a trained dog that does some tricks with Miss La Tour. Could hold down much harder spot. KATHERINE NELSON and ELIZABETH OTTO. 1. Time 18. Pleasingly untheatrical, very much of the "swell, elegant parlor grand" variety. The pianiste is excellent and scores heavily in two classical solos and some comedy instrumental imitations. The comedienne has personality, sings with vim and has certain unique ways. Big hit. THOMAS J. RYAN-RICHFIELD CO. C.D.F. Time, 23. 2 men, 1 woman. "Mag Haggerty's Reception." The old act with many new and clever lines. Same big hit. MILLMAN TRIO. F.S. woods. Time 11. 3 women, 1 man. Act opens with aerial flying, like Curzon sisters, by Mrs Millman who then disappears from the act. Next the two young ladies and man do some fast and exciting tight wire work. The big feature is the dancing on the wire by Bird Millman. She is wonderfully graceful and energetic and her work is an emphatic hit. Unquestionably she is the individual hit of the show. ARTHUR WHITELAW. In 1. Time, 13. Singing monologist. Great personality. Rather rusty material, inclining in places toward vulgarity. Had him cut several lines. Has gone back since las visit here about a year ago. T. Roy BARNES & BESSIE CRAWFORD. Open C.D.F., close in 1. Time, 19. Presenting a talking, singing and stepping skit entitled, "The Fakir and the Prima Donna." Fair average act with plenty of life. GUS EDWARD'S SCHOOL BOYS and GIRLS. Open in 3, close in 1. Time 23. Five girls, 4 boys. Better and faster than ever. Singing full of snap and harmony. Fun is rough, but clean. One of the big hits of the show. Girls all young and attractive. Working smoothly and effectively. "VISIONS OF EDEN" Production in 7 scenes by a local dancing master. Featured for local drawing power.
