C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 21-09. VERONICA & HURL-FALLS. 8 min. This is a mighty good opener. The ground tumbling is skilful and the comedy is good. They introduced several new feats and on the whole quite won the house. Closed strong. GEORGE H. WOOD. 20 min. A good line of talk which kept the audience in good humor. Good deal of laughter and applause throughout. Closed well. FROSINI. 13 min. This man is a true artist. The amount of volume and sweetness he gets out of this ordinary instrument is remarkable. Could hold a strong spot on any bill. Big applause after each selection and a strong closing hand. MCCONNELL & SIMPSON. "A Stormy Hour." 24 min. This is a clever little sketch and well acted, particularly as far as Miss McConnell's work is concerned. There are a good many bright lines and the sketch has an individual flavor which is quite refreshing. Not an act for a very strong place, nevertheless, held this spot acceptably. VINIE DALY. 11 min. Carries her own plush drop which is a very effective background for her costumes which are quite elaborate. Her vocal work is not particularly strong, but her dancing gives the act its value. Fairly good closing hand. THE GREAT LESTER. 26 min. This man made a decided hit. His voice-throwing is not only remarkable, but his line of humor is excellent and the crowd liked him from the first. Carrying the manikin down through the audience while singing a song was a new idea and got a big hand. Closed big. VESTA TILLEY. 28 min. Miss Tilley caught the crowd at once and held them very strong. She is certainly an artiste in every gesture and detail of her person and her work. Every one of her songs was strongly applauded. There is no doubt of her being an immense drawing card in this town. THE THREE DEMONS. 13 min. This act is one of the best cycling sensations we have ever played. It is a thriller all right and makes a very good closer. "The Wright Brothers' Aeroplane in Flight." We held this series over because we have advertised it very strong and the audience waited for these pictures last week in a very gratifying manner. Some of the best pictures ever shown in Vaudeville. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a good average show and would satisfy our patrons even without Miss Tilley. With Miss Tilley on the bill, if the weather conditions are in our favor, we ought to have crowded houses. CUTS. THE GREAT LESTER: EXPRESSION "What the h--- is the matter with you." Addressing any one in the audience. GEORGE H. WOOD. Expression "Go to the devil."
