Boston Show, Week of Sept. 13, 1909. R. G. Larsen (Monday Sept. 13th--Afternoon Show.) Overture. 1.45, 5 minutes. Wentworth, Vesta & Teddy. On at 1.50, 10 minutes full stage. Good opening act, two clowns and a dog and plenty of comedy. Newhoff & Phelps. On at 2.00, 16 minutes in one. Two kids with singing, dancing and talking. Talking end of it not very good, about 10 minutes to-night.-much better. Swat Milligan. On at 2.16, 19 minutes full stage, 1 minutes in one of pictures. There is the making of a good act here around a rather novel idea, but it certainly is not in shape and did not make a very great impression this afternoon. It is an act in its present form which doesn't seem to get anywhere. Alf Grant. On at 2.33, 19 minutes in one. This man took hold of things in good shape this afternoon and got a big hand all through. Miriam O'Leary Collins & Co., in "The Suffragettes." 22 minutes fill stage. This is a farce written by one of the leaders of the suffragette movement in Boston, with four people most of them well known here. It is anything but a amateur performance, and went good in spots. Proved a good local feature. Ray Cox. On at 3.14, 22 minutes in one. Miss Cox was a scream. She was nervous about following "Swat Milligan," with her base ball talk, but after she got going, she had that sketch beaten to a frazzle, and peopl seemed to forget that it was on the bill. Peter. On at 3.36, 30 minutes full stage. Peter worked well and went big. We have advertised him heavily and he certainly made good this afternoon. His bicycle riding was the best I have ever seen done by a monk and he closed with a tremendous hand. Cats. Simon & Gardner--Grandmother has nothing on her. The servants' decollette on the floor. Comment. A very good show and with changes should whip into fine shape to-night. Will open with Newhoff and Phelps, Swat Milligan following then Wentworth & Vesta. The rest of the bill is as before. Injunction proceedings were threatened to-day against the Temple Quartette by a quartette of the same name that has been using the title for about 23 years. Expect more developments tonight. Notice has been served and we will discontinue use of name in Boston.
