REPORT on PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF SEPT. 13, 1909. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. After re-construction and the addition of the Bowman Brothers to the bill, the show plays very well and gave decided satisfaction to the Tuesday audiences. Majestic Trio Three colored people who have not kept up with the procession and are not doing as good an act as one usually expects from coons. They are satisfactory in this spot, as we start our show very early. Originally the act is 20 Min. but I cut it down to 15 Min. In One. MaRABINI Ice Sculptor. This is a novel offering that is quite interesting. Pleased the audiences at all performances so far and a little advertising is secured by placing the carvings in the lobby or on the sidewalk in front of the theatre after his act. 13 Min. F.S. Capt. Jack Crawford The Poet Scout. Capt. Jack recites a number of his own poems but is inclined to want to talk too much about himself, thereby taking up time which should be given to reciting poetry; the talk added to the poetry making the act too long. The Monday afternoon audience grew very restless but at the later performances he did better after he had cut out a good deal of the talk about himself. As far as his stage work is concerned I do not think him a good vaudeville proposition; but one can get ore newspaper stuff with him than any act we have had in sometime. The Providence Journal, one of the hardest papers in the country, gave him a column story on Tuesday and other little notices. He went to the Boys' Reform School Tuesday morning and talked to the and plans are made for him to visit the prison and other places during the week all of which gives him prominence and us advertising. His act runs anywhere from 15 to 25 Min in One. PEDERSON BROS. I had these men closing the show Monday afternoon, which spot they could not hold, because their act opens so slowly and ordinarily. At the later performances they were a decided hit, securing a lot of applause upon three tricks which they do. My first impression of the act was that it was not worth more than $150; but where they can be placed in a position in the middle or early in a show I should rate them as about a $200 act. 7 Min. F.S. Phil Staatz A genial fat man who tells some good stories and does some clever work at the piano. Went decidedly well at all performances. 15 Min. in One. Potts Bros. & Co. In "Double Troubles". This is a good lively farce, based upon the mistaken identity of two men who resemble each other very closely. It got some good laughs but did not make the screaming hit that it was credited with in other cities. 18 Min. F.S. 2 Minute wait. "The Vampire Dance". Bert French and Alice Eis, opening with the Apache Dance, which went very moderately indeed and finished with The Vampire. The act has been in New York so long that any talk on my part would be superfluous, as every manager has no doubt seen it. 14 Min. Open in Two, close F.S. Bowman Brothers Added to the show on Tuesday. A corking good blackface act which met with instant favor and helped materially in boosting up the show. 15 Min. in One. F. S. Can open about two minutes in One. Motion Pictures O.K.
