REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27th, 1909. Charles Lovenberh, Manager. This is undoubtedly the best, as well as the classiest, bill that has ever been presented in this theatre, since we bagn vaudeville ten years ago. The people have gone out wild with enthusiasm and unless all signs fail we will have a corking good week's business. MAXWELL HOLDEN Magician and Shadowgraphist. A little cheap act put in to open our show, which begins very early and which answers its purpose. 12 Min. F.S. Open F.S., close in One. MAX YORK'S DOGS Well-known act, which repeated its usual success. 12 Min. F.S. McNISH & PENFOLD These two men are now working in white face and have a comedy talking and singing act with practically no dancing. They pleased the audiences today and tonight and are good value for the money. 18 Min. in One. ALBERT WHELAN This well-known act is in better shape even than when it was here two years ago. Mr. Whelan's work is original, clean-cut and he is an ornament to any bill. 18 Min. F.S. WHITE'S FOUR DANCING BUGS This is a very good dancing act. Its opening is in a comedy vein, giving it extra value. They went well all through and there was strong applause at the finish. 13 Min. Open in 2, close in One. CECIL LEAN and FLORENCE HOLBROOK This excellent pair of artists repeated the success that has been accredited them in other houses. In fact, they were a tremendous hit. Held the stage 28 Min, giving us about 3 Min. in One. Charles Lovenberg's OPERATIC FESTIVAL It is rather a difficult thing for a man to give a report on his own act, especially when it is the first presentation of it in any theatre. At the risk of appearing egotistical, however, i am going to say that I am thoroughly satisfied with this production As to its singing qualities, there is no question that there has ever been anything like it in vaudeville at any time. That is my personal opinion. From the standpoint of the audience it is the greatest success that I ever saw at any time for any act. I particularly went directly through the act not permitting any encores for the individual numbers and several times, because of this, the opening bars of the succeeding numbers could not be heard for the applause. The act ran naturally thirty-four minutes. At the end of that time, three curtain calls were given and it was necessary to repeat the finale. Then two curtain calls were given and it was necessary to repeat the finale again. Then two more calls and not until the next act was on did the applause subside. The costumes are good, the scenery is particularly good. The Opening of the Carnival of Venice scene getting a double round of applause, with no one on the stage at the time. As I said before, the act ran 34 Min. and an additional time of four Min was taken by encores and curtains. I am going to try to take a little out of it, but as everything went so big it is pretty hard for me to tell what to cut. BOWERS, WATERS & CROCKER The Three Rubes. No better act could have been secured to follow a big singing act than this one. 14 Min. Open and close in One. THE CARMOS Novelty juggling. This is a corking good act, very unusual in its make-up and splendidly dressed. Can be used as a headliner or special feature anywhere. 13 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
