Boston Show week February 14, '10. R. G. Larsen Overture. 7 minutes. THE MACGREGORS. 12 minutes f.s. This is a rather ordinary musical act and the start of it was very bad. The finish probably would have been better if we had not had xylophone playing on the bill for the past 3 weeks. JOHN BIRCH, 13 minutes in 1. Birch has not been here for 3 years and he is still doing his melodrama with the hats. This afternoon, although in a very hard spot, he got the audience in great shape with laughs all through and his finish was big. To-night he repeated this experience. DUNCAN'S SCOTCH COLLIES. 14 minutes f.s. This is one of the best animal acts we have played. The dogs work well and their automobile stunt is a scream. MACART AND BRADFORD. 24 minutes, 8 in 1 rest in f.s. This act got lots of laughs and proved very satisfactory. GRIFFITH, THE MYSTIC CALCULATOR. 24 minutes in 1. This man is rather out of the ordinary in this sort of work. His feats of memory are something wonderful and he works a good deal of comedy into telling the ages of persons in the audience and the day on which they were born. He is certainly a good feature and a novelty and is sure to be talked about. BALLET OF LIGHT. 25 minutes f.s. This act has done so well for us here in Boston that I have made arrangements with Miss Fuller to duplicate it here and we have worked into it Mlle Conda, a toe dancer, who was not, I regret to say, entirely satisfactory, but the Ballet made as big a hit as ever with some changes and there is no doubt it continues to draw us money besides Lauder opposition and some of the strongest shows the legitimate houses have had this season. AL JOLSON. 19 minutes in 1. Jolson was quite refreshing this afternoon after about 2 minutes got the audience for fair and they would not let him off. "20TH CENTURY." 24 minutes f.s. This is one of the best of Lasky's acts and went big here this afternoon. SIX SAMOIS. Whirlwind acrobats. 7 minutes f.s. A good swift closing act. COMMENT. The show worked out in good shape and went big to-night.
