PHILADELPHIA B.F. KEITH'S August 12 8 PATHE 12 min. The usual average. LADY ALICE'S PETS. 10 min. A very pretty animal novelty. Wonderful exhibition of rats, cats and birds working together. Nicely staged and handled. Very good in the opening position. BURNS & KISSES. 15 min. Two boys, singing and talking. Work in straight make-up, one handling comedy talk. Have some good material and got plenty of laughs. WROE'S BUDS. 20 min. A local act with seven small children in fancy dances, songs and tableaux. Presented principally as a local draw and it got over in excellent shape. HELEN TRIX & SISTER. 16 min. A very clever singing and piano act. The girls use only original song numbers and every one scored solidly. Make a fine appearance, do a bit of dancing for a finish and were one of the big applause hits of the bill. QUINN & CAVERLY. 14 min. Two men in a comedy talking act, called, "Y 4." Formerly Quinn & Mitchell and Raymond & Caverly. In the new vehicle they have an up-to-date comedy skit that drew plenty of laughs. Talk is crossfire comedy, mostly to do with submarines and the war. Several changes suggested by Mr. Robbins have been made and the act went over strong. EDDIE FOY & YOUNGER FOYS. 20 min. The best act Foy has given in vaudeville. Plenty of music and action and the comedy is well done, the children doing especially well. Foy was warmly welcomed and at the finish had to make a speech of thanks. FLORENZ AMES & ADELAIDE WINTHROP. 25 min. Man and woman in a revue called, "One Moment Please." Material consists mostly of travesty bits, all well handled. Grotesque work of the man drew solid laughs and the act gets better as it goes along. A variety of business and dances are used and they closed to a big hand. BERT SWOR. 15 min. Blackface comedian in a monologue, closing with a recitation and song. Has some good material and handles it well. Kept the house laughing and finished to a good hand. PARKER BROS. 10 min. Two men in a series of hand-balancing feats. Have a good closing trick in a leap over a piano. Tricks all well done and were very well liked in the closing spot. GENERAL REMARKS. Very satisfactory show that played well against the handicap of warm weather. CUTS QUINN & CAVERLY-- "Atlantic City, the New Jerusalem" "A Jew Never Runs away from a Sale" AMES & WINTHROP-- Expression, "My Gawd" BERT SWOR-- Word "Hell"
