PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S January 20 9. PICTURES - A good lot of pictures having war scenes. (14 mins.) BERT & LOTTIE WALTON - 8 mins. The couple did very well in the opening spot with a mixture of acrobatics and dancing. Act is nicely staged and dressed. BEN BERNIE - 13 mins. Here is a corking good single, not only with some catchy violin numbers, but with a lot of good comedy talk that got a lot of laughs and he was forced to come back for an enchore. A big hit in the number two spot. THREE EDDIES - 10 mins. A very good comedy acrobatic turn by three men. All work as clowns and build up some very good material by cleverly handled pantomimics. It proved a good laughing number and closed to a big hand. DOROTHY TOYE & SISTER - 16 mins. Miss Toye was a very big applause hit. She sang several operatic selections, disclosing her remarkable double voice, and finished with a patriotic number. Each of her selections was very well received and she had able assistance from her sister, who accompanied her at the piano, and played one solo number. Finished strong. "IN THE DARK" - 22 mins. An excellent comedy sketch, employing seven characters. It opens like a dramatic play but takes a sudden turn and in a few minutes has the audience not only intensely interested but highly amused. There is a surprise finish, which everyone is looking for, but it gets over in great shape and the sketch registered solidly. An excellent novelty. "FRANCES KENNEDY - 20 mins. This is a return engagement for her in this house and she was accorded a very warm reception. She has brightened up her monologue considerably since last seen, playing more to comedy, and with the aid of a couple of very good song numbers that she does cleverly, she scored a big hit. She also makes a stunning appearance. RUTH ST. DENIS - 28 mins. Her dance offerings are more novel and elaborately colored than when last seen, and all are beautifully costumed in the most extreme classical style. The act is highly picturesque and held the audience interested from start to finish. Each of the numbers was applauded liberally and the act finished strong. CLIFTON CRAWFORD - 20 Mins. Being very popular here he was given a big reception and it was easy for him right on to the finish. He used some snappy comedy talk, one song and finished with one of his characteristic recitations. Closed to a big hand. MELNOTTE DUO - 9 mins. This is a very good closing act by two men. They open in one, with a clever bit of balancing, and then go into full stage for a showy routine of wire walking. They inject some comedy into the finishing number and closed very well.
