REPORT OF COLONIAL, LAWRENCE, WEEK OF JAN. 23, 1911. John F. Adams, Critic. Artusa - Austrian equilibrist. Hand balancing, very fine, started show off great. 11 min. full stage. Six O'Connor Sisters - Harmonious singing sextette, cannot say too much for this act, made a big hit. They make two changes of costume, selection of songs very good and were one of the hits of the bill. 12 min. in one. Valerie Bergere's Players - presenting her sketch "What Happened in Room 44" an interesting story, catches the audience from the start, competent company and went very good. Own set. 14 min. full stage. Carlin and Fox - character comedians. A clever pair of Hebrew comedians, their line of songs and stories good. Went big. 14 min. in one. John B. [Hymer?] and Co - presenting "The Devil and Tom Walker" a big laugh from start to finish. Went very big. 28 min. full stage, own act. Arthur Whitelaw - Irish monologist. A good line of songs and stories, went good. 16 min. in one. Sebastian Merrill and Co - "Gyroscopomedians" 3 people. Got a lot of comedy out of different bicycles which they introduce, their finish is a hair raiser. The two men mount a tandem suspended from the fly floor and ride an incline turning a complete somersault and landing right side up. Made a great closing act. 14 min. full stage. Motion Pictures O. K.
