He is there in full uniform. She tells him of the district attorney's offer. The captain tells her not to be a squealer and offers her $10,000 to go to jail for him. She refuses, but finally consents and the captain leaves the room to get the money. During his absence his daughter enters the room. She never suspects her father is crooked. When the woman of the streets sees the captain's daughter, dressed in silks wearing fashionable modes and jewelry she takes her to task. She tells the daughter what her father is trying to do. When the captain reenters the room the girl talks to him. She persuades him to face the music and not sacrifice a poor girl.
