HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. WEEK OF APR. 28, 1913. Tuesday night's show. Jos. R. Smith. GARGONI TROUPE---- Two men and two women wearing riding costumes who perform a number of acrobatic stunts, some of which draw good laughs. It is a thorough acrobatic act and went very fair. F.S. 12 Min. JEANETTE CHILDS----- Singer and dancer who wears four costumes. she sings four catchy songs and performs some clever dancing. Her closing number is a romper song and dance which she gets over nicely. The act went very fair. In one 12 Min. WHALEN AND WEST--- Man and a woman, singers and dancers who have a humorous dialogue. They get their stuff over in nice shape and the act went well. In one 15 Min. LEIGH DE LACY AND COMPANY---- Presenting a comedy playlet, "The Boxx". Two men and a woman. Scene is the living room in a Bronx flat. The young married couple have just moved in and the furniture is topsy turvy. From their conversation it seems that the young man is the son of a wealthy old German from whom he stole some money and served a term in Sing Sing. The young man feels blue, but the wife cheers him up. He goes into an adjoining bathroom and during his absence an old German grocer comes in with some articles the wife had previously ordered. While they are talking the young husband enters. He is recognized as the son of the old grocer. The latter denounces him, for being a thief and refuses to forgive him. The wife denounces the old father for his attitude and then the old man is finally won over when the wife produces a baby. The old man forgives and as they form a loving group the act ends. There is no action to the piece. There is too much talk. The act appears to be a steal on "Dinklespiel's Christmas". It went just fair. C.D.F. 14 Min. INTERMISSION----- "MODELS OF JARDIN DE PARIS"--- Five women and three men. This act has suffered a big setback. The comedy is not brought out as well as it formerly was. The comedians are not near as clever and the models cannot be favorably compared with old set. As a result of this it only went very fair. Special set 24 Min. ROBERT EMMETT KEANE---- A clever entertainer in evening clothes who gives English impersonations. He sings several numbers using an English accent and tone of voice. His monologue is good and his act is the applause hit of the bill. In one 16 Min. PETER--- This well known act needs no comment. In addition to performing his usual tricks Peter performs a roller-skating number. The act went very big. F.S. 22 Min. PHOTOPLANE--- Satisfactory. N.B. This is our last week of vaudeville as the house goes into stock for the summer season. We will consider it a favor if the managers will continue as usual to forward their criticisms.
