CRITICISM B.F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE, MAY 5TH. KARL GREES Lightning Oil Painter, in a series of transparent paintings. Very interesting, receiving lots of applause. Could go farther down on the bill. 11 minutes, full stage. WALTER JAMES In character songs. This young man has improved greatly since his last appearance. Each of his selections are accorded strong applause. It is a pity to waste him in this position. 14 minutes in one. MINNIE ALLEN This young woman has improved greatly during the past year. She has quite a clever idea in songs and works very quickly and to great applause. In fact, she was the hit of the show up to this time. Eleven minutes, full stage, can work in one. TUDOR CAMERON AND JOHNNY O'CONNOR In "Hired and Fired", a new presentation and quite a novel idea, O'Connor makes a very good appearance, has an excellent voice and is a very good straight man. Their material is new with plenty of bright patter. Cameron's eccentric dancing caught the crowd. They are the applause hit of the show. Nineteen minutes in one. DEWAR'S COMEDY CIRCUS Placed this act here in order to put some comedy in the center of the bill. It is not as good as Cliff Berzac or Hickey's Circus However, it kept them screaming to the finish. Fifteen minutes, full stage. ISABELLE D' ARMOND AND FRANK CARTER The same good act and too well known for any comment. They held this position in a very acceptable manner. Twenty-two minutes, open in one, go to full stage then back to one. BILLY "SWEDE" HALL in "Made Good", a splendid comedy, full of bright lines and many strong laughs. Twenty-five minutes full stage. EMPIRE COMEDY FOUR Held their own in great shape. Eighteen minutes in one.
