CRITICISM B.F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE JUNE 9TH. MINNIE KAUFMANN of the Kaufmann Troupe of cyclists. Pleasing appearance, nicely costumed, presenting a very neat cycle exhibition, using two bicycles and a tandem. Got over in great shape. Ten minutes full stage. RICE BROTHERS German comedians and the roughest I ever saw. After they are thoroughly fumigated, possibly they may be capable of holding down number two in a high class theatre, but I doubt it. Fifteen minutes in one. "THE VILLAIN STILL PURSUED HER" A melodramatic satire, presented by a company of five players. On the order of "More Sinned Against Than Usual" Quite a number of good bright lines and humorous situations that secure many laughs. While it did not go as strong as anticipated, presume it will improve during the week. Nineteen minutes full stage. JEANETTE DUPRE This woman has good personality, a fairly good lot of patter but a very weak voice and a poor selection of songs. She failed to create any excitement and was taken sick after the first performance. LEW BRICE and LILLLIAN [GONNE? CONNE?] A young couple giving their specialty, which consists of singing and whistling, dancing and imitations. Brought the first big round of applause. A splendid number and a hit. Fifteen minutes in one. CHINKO Juggler. This young man's work remains the same as before. Quite a pretentious affair. He works quick and fast, getting a lot of uninterrupted applause and finishes strong. Nine minutes, full stage. MELVILLE AND HIGGINS The same act and the same big hit. Sixteen minutes in one. VALERIE BERGERE AND COMPANY Presenting the dramatic playlet, called, "Judgment" entirely dramatic, but an act that grips, and holds to the finish. A great skit and one of the hits of the bill. Fourteen minutes, full stage. FREDERICK V. BOWERS and his Song Revue. Described in previous criticisms. Quick and fast, something doing every minute. Continual applause throughout, closing the show in splendid manner and holding them. Fifteen minutes, can open and close in one.
