C. E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 23, 1913. MARCUS & GARTELLE. 11 min. F.S. One man works straight, the other blackface comedy. Makes a good opener with the regulation skating stunts. Start with comedy and proceed with their skating which is wholly with the view to getting laughs out of a good many falls. Closed well. MILLER & MACK. 10 min. in one. Well known here. Good advance hand. These boys do good work whether individually or together. Some of their steps on the dancing mat are new and received good applause. Closed well. LeROY & LYTTON. 17 min. F.S. A farce comedy sketch for an early spot on the bill along old conventional lines. A little drawn out but it managed to get by in this spot, but could hardly hold a stronger place. Closed fair. ED. MORTON. 12 min. in one. Mr. Morton is a Philadelphia entertainer and after the advance applause, everything he did received a big hand. Has a good selection of songs which he puts over in very good shape. All of them were new and got applause right up to the climax. Held this spot very acceptably. TOOTS PAKA. 21 min. F.S. These people made a hit right from the first. Their instrumental and vocal work is better than ever before and the guitar soloist is certainly a wonder. Received two encores. Closed strong with the Hula Hula dance with an encore. MULLER & STANLEY. 10 min. in one. Usual line of lively fun, with some few new variations. Make a fine appearance, with change of costumes. Closed very strong with a burlesque grand opera melodrama. MASTER GABRIEL & CO. 25 min. F.S. "Little Kick." This new vehicle of Master Gabriel's is entirely different from the act he has presented for so many years. Gabriel's individual work is the most artistic that he has ever given us, and the little story combining comedy and pathos distinctly pleased the audience, both the grown-ups and the children. VINIE DALY. 14 min. Miss Daly has come back with a fine repertoire, some stunning gowns and immense improvement in the way she puts over every song. Has the advantage of a mighty good leader-violinist who accompanies her most artistically and who shares honors with Miss Daly in a very deserving manner. Closed big. "NEPTUNE'S GARDEN." The same big act that made the same bit hit for us previously. Big audience stayed in for it and gave it just as much applause as heretofore. KINETOPHONE: "The Mascot, Act 1." Not up to the previous close of vocal and instrumental Kinetophone numbers. GENERAL REMARKS. A very fine show, and if weather conditions are at all favorable should do the honors and fulfill every condition.
