C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 30, 1913. La VIER. 6 min. F.S. This man is some daring trapeze performer and contortionist. Makes a mighty good opener. Some of his tricks are really thrilling and every one of them got applause. The finish with the rocking chair on the trapeze is really a remarkable feat. Closed well. NEWHOFF & PHELPS. 16 min. Lively singers of popular songs with good patter. Open with song shop scene in one and a half and close in one. Held this spot in good shape and could go further down the bill with credit. THE SULLYS. 19 min. This act caught the crowd right from the first and had them going up to the big finish. an ideal hot weather feature full of light comedy, good songs and extraordinary eccentric dancing. An act that would wake up any house or hold any spot. LEONA STEPHENS. 15 min. This young lady made good today in no doubtful manner with four good songs put over in fine style, each with a change of costume and moving picture showing herself in her dressing room between each song. A comer for the big headline class. Closed very well. (Can be routed for $150-175 - good value. H.T. Jordan) HERBERT'S DOGS. 11 min. F.S. A whole stage full of well trained dogs who seem to enjoy their work and the act went smoothly with plenty of comedy, and made a hit. Closed big. GOLDEN & DeWINTRES. 17 min. Golden appears as a Yiddisher and after a funny line of talk, does some excellent violin work and some good eccentric dancing. The surprise part of the act is the ventriloquism in which the audience is fooled by the illusion that Golden is making the manikin talk when it is Miss DeWintres in the part of the bell-hop. Held the crowd and of course the surprise finish gave them a strong closing hand. MRS. GENE HUGHES & CO. "Youth." 27 min. This excellent comedy went just as strong as on its first presentation here some two years ago. Well written and well acted and will go particularly strong with our evening audiences. ALBERT VON TILZER. 18 min. Good advance applause. Makes a fine impression from the first and is very ably assisted by Miss Nord who is a very pretty woman, sings well and has a pleasing personality. Every song and medley got a good hand and they closed big. "NEPTUNE'S GARDEN." 18 min. Monday afternoon crowd stayed in for it, showing that what few people were in were drawn here to see it. Went as well as ever. KINETOGRAPH. First run of "Pathe Weekly." GENERAL REMARKS. This is a good Summer show. If we can get a good rainstorm or some break in this terrible heat wave that we have had for ten days or so, it will do business. CUTS NEWHOFF & PHELPS: Elimination of entire "Goody Goody Good" song. MRS. HUGHES: Expression "My God."
