Union Square Criticism Week of July 14th, 1913- Page 2 MARIE McFARLAND and MADAME----? The hit of the show at every performance. Twelve minutes, full stage. HARRY GODFREY and VERA HENDERSON in a playlet called, "Aboard for Abroad" A pleasing little skit in one, rather a light story, with slang patter, securing numerous laughs, but does not seem to go over. Fourteen minutes ROBERT T. HAINES Presenting a new one act comedy drama called, "The Man in The Dark". Mr. Haines plays a gentleman burglar, a "Raffles", who, concealed in a house, overhears a love scene between the woman of the house and a man, not the husband. He surprises them and, instead of robbing the house, blackmails the man, for $20.000, threatening to tell the story to the husband. The man pays, but in doing so reveals himself as such a cad that the woman is glad to get rid of him and thanks the burglar for his help. The story runs smoothly, the lines and situations are clever and the players, four in number, are thoroughly competent. The sketch is a splendid substitute for "The Coward" fully as good, having a comedy vein throughout and is received with tremendous applause at every performance. Seventeen minutes. HOEY AND LEE With a mass of new material and parodies. Always a big hit here. Seventeen minutes in one. "A MONKEY HIPPODROME" A whole stage full of monkeys, giving the entire performance, such as a monkey orchestra, foot juggling, feats of strength, wire walking and a disrobing aerial act, without the aid of a director. Very novel, interesting with plenty of laughs. Fifteen minutes, full stage.
