[preprinted] SCENIC TEMPLE Vaudeville and Motion Pictures EXEC OFFICE: UNION THEATRE UNION STREET PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND MAIN STREET PHONE PAWTUCKET 356 Pawtucket, R. I., [/preprinted] Report on acts playing the Scenic Temple, week of September1,1913. Show seen Mnday matinee and evening by C.L.McNally. B elle Onra. Work in full stage,4 minutes.Although very short, this is a very good act. The work is all very fast, and she accomplishes in the short space of time more feats than one woudl think possible. The act opens with the usual trapeze work, and closes with some great demonstrations of strength, sch as pulling herself completely up on the trapeze, very slowly, with one arm. Went good. Wheeler and Wilson. Man and woman who work in one,14 minutes.Act opens with man pushing sewing-machine on which girl is seated on to the stage, singing at the time a song about the sewing-machine girl. Then comes a very pretty dance by the girl in a beautiful dress. Next is an eccentric dance by the man, which is very good The act closes with the man and girl singing a song, followed by Texas Tommy dancing. At the matinee performance, the girl wore a dress that caused audible comments in the house, and while it might be all right for New York,it was a little too strong for Pawtucket. At the evening show she wore m ore clothes, and consequently earned more applause. A good act and well received. McCormick and Wallace. Work in special set in two. A ventriloquial novelty entitled "The Theatrical Agency" Scene represents the interior of a booking office. The comedy iss good .The act comprises a man and woman, who use two dummies in the act.Open in full stage and close in one,5 minutes.Very good.Act went godd. 19 minutes. Ad. Hoyt's Minstrels. Carmen Ercell. Works 10 minutes in one. Singing violiniste. Went poor at matinee and fair at night.Wears a very pretty costume. The Arlington Four. Four men,one blackface, one Hebrew, oneIrish, and one straight.Songs and comedy talking.Men sing very well together, but their solo work is poor although it pleased. There is some good comedy in actbut then act would be improved if some of the comedy, which is poor would be dropped out.Act went fair at matinee, went well at night. Belle Hathaway's Monks. Work in full stage 15 minutes.Miss Hathaway carries one man assistant Number of monkeys on stage at matinee was about 13.If the act was judged by the tricks that the monkeys do there would be little to say,but the way that they act, such as jumping and playing around the stage receives quite a few laughs during the act.
