GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURGH, PA. Week SEPTEMBER 1st, 1913. Opening Season, Anniversary Bill. F. ARTUSO Hand balancer and jumper. 8 minutes, full stage. This is a very ordinary opening act. It is probably worth the money we are paying for it. (BALTIMORE) FIELD BROS. Eccentric Dancers and Singers. 9 min. in One. A very good act of its kind. The boys are splendid dancers and get away fairly well with their singing. (COLUMBUS) OLD SOLDIER FIDDLERS. Special drop; full stage; 19 minutes. The same act they gave us before, with the exception of three new members as a quintet. I do not believe there is as much ginger and glow to their performance as there was last season; but nevertheless, the audience liked them and they did not yield to any other act on the bill in the matter of applause. (Open) BURNHAM & IRWIN 14 Minutes in one. "A Song Sketch at the Piano." This is a pleasing number. Mr. Irwin is particularly clever, after the manner of Clifton crawford, and Miss Burnham does a neat little pianologue from the style of CLIFTON CRAWFORD 15 minutes in one. In spite of the hard spot he had in our bill, Mr. Crawford, by dint of perseverance and his magnetic personality, finally won an unresponsive audience and closed with them wanting more. He was rather at a disadvantage because of the Burnham & Irwin act preceding. After Monday matinee he had to make a complete change in his act. However, he got our audience strong with his William Service's recitation, "The Lure of the Yukon" and finished big with "Gungadin." (BOSTON) THE CASTILLIANS Posing Art Models. 9 minutes; full stage. A series of studies of art masterpieces in bronze. Almost too realistic for belief, and in consequence, less appreciated than they really deserve. It is the best posing act of the sort we have ever played. (Open) MOVING PICTURES. PATHE WEEKLY.
