B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Sept. 8, 1913 Cleveland, Ohio CAVANA DUO - - 12 minutes F.S. Special drop. Man and woman. Man does clever contortion on slack wire getting strong applause. Woman dances well while playing small Irish harp. A good opening act spoiled by some very tame talk. (Milwaukee) HAL & FRANCIS - - Man and woman, 20 minutes in one. Special drop that should be eliminated. The worst aniline dye drop ever hung in this theatre. A small time act in every particular, doing a lot of old gags with a few songs. Act should be cut to 12 minutes. (Cincinnati) LANGTON LUCIER & CO - - assisted by Jess White. Two men and two women (one of the latter colored) 21 minutes in C.D.F. Juvenile male doing straight has very pleasing song - man and woman doing song, talk and dancing in eccentric rube make-up - lively act getting lots of laughs throughout. Fat colored woman used in one scene only gets big scream on account of appearance. Closed in 1. (Columbus) TROVATO - - The Eccentric Violinist. 20 minutes in one. Made his usual big hit, meriting all the applause accorded him. Compelled to make a speech of thanks after both performances. (Cincinnati) ALBERTA RASCH'S LE BALLET CLASSIQUE - - With Mlle. Domini Marini assisted by Mlle M. Bronski and a corps de ballet of 7 very efficient dancers. Full stage. Entire act artistic and graceful. Nine numbers and one of the best acts of its kind ever seen here. Act carries a musical director. (Toledo) THE PINAFORE KIDDIES - - 31 minutes F.S. Special set. A condensed version of "H.M.S. Pinafore" presented by 21 young singers. Some of the principals can sing but the music is pitched too high for them causing them to scream their numbers at the top of their voices. A good novelty act, getting very mild applause. Act is very well costumed and carries a musical director. (Cincinnati) EMPIRE COMEDY FOUR - - 20 minutes in 1. This well known act repeats its success, going along from start to finish with continuous applause and laughter. Joe Jenny, dutch comedian which is way above the average. Act works as Dude, straight, tragedian and Dutchman. (Detroit) CAPTAIN CHINK'S AUSTRALIAN BOY SCOUTS - - 10 min F.S. Wood 10 boys in conventional military drills, wall scaling and gun manipulations. Opened with songs by quartette which was ridiculously funny following the Empire Comedy Four. This was cut after opening show. Nothing about the act which interested or held the audience in this spot. (Grand Rapids) PATHE'S WEEKLY No. 45
