B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Sept 29, 1913 Cleveland, Ohio LANDRY BROTHERS - - Two good looking athletes. 7 minutes in 4, Palace Their work is finished and holds attention throughout. (Milwaukee) RAY CONLIN - - Ventriloquist. 15 minutes in one. Olio. A well groomed young man with spontaneous comedy which gets over from the start. He works at perfect ease, smoking much of the time while working. (Indianapolis) ARTHUR DUNN & KATHERINE NELSON --- "A Little bit of Comedy". 20 minutes C.D.F. in 3, close in one. The title expresses it. There is very little comedy or anything else in this act. This well known comedian is not getting over as he did on former visits. Miss Nelson's singing does not help him to win applause. (Chicago) BRANDON HURST & CO --- "The Girl". An exceedingly clever skit. Three men. Dark library in 3. Plays 19 minutes with a picture curtain down for a few moments to denote lapse of time. The playlet is acted very well and has two surprises at the finish. (Chicago) JOHN & MAE BURKE - - "The Ragtime Soldier" 18 minutes, opening in 1, go to 2 and close in one. Eccentric comedian and straight woman who registered the first laughs of the bill. Man's dry squeaky humor and excellent ragtime piano playing thoroughly enjoyable. The finish is particularly novel and exceedingly funny. (Cincinnati) FOSTER BALL & FORD WEST - - "The Days of 61" 20 minutes in one. Two men with a new idea in a "street act", one of them doing an old G.A.R. the other opening as a policeman and finishing as a young city chap. The veteran of Mr. Ball is a gem. Never out of the character a moment he gives a bit of character acting which is both wonderful and delightfully humorous. The act could be greatly improved if his partner would add another song as he has a really good voice but uses it little. (Chicago) HORACE GOLDIN - - "The Tiger God". 40 minutes with a production consisting of special sets in 5. Goldin is a rapid fire magician who has added many new tricks since his last visit here. His closing number "The Tiger God" in which is uses a full grown tigress is lavishly staged and exceedingly effective. His many large illusions, especially the one in which he causes a lady and a piano to disappear in full view of the audience, are cleverly manipulated and the show goes without a hitch. A chorus of singing and dancing girls are used to good effect and the pantomimic acting of the principals is well done at all times. One of the most spectacular acts ever seen here.
