200 B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE - BOSTON - WEEK OCTOBER 4, 1913. (R. G. Larsen.) DARE BROTHERS. 9 minutes in two. Special set. Well known strong man act which made a splendid opener. WILLIAMS and SEGAL. 10 minutes in one. Olio. This dancing team have brightened their act up considerably this season with new costumes. Went over in very good shape. TOM KYLE and CO. in "A Doctored Widow." 17 minutes in two. Special set. The drop showing the steamship "Mauretania" got a hand at the opening, while the comedy got a lot of laughs, and closed well. THE BERRENS. 14 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. About the same act as they have given us on previous visits, and going as well as ever. OWEN MCGIVENEY. 23 minutes f.s. Special set. "Bill Nikes." The applause hit of the show. Received a reception, held the rapt attention of the audience throughout, and closed very, very big. SMITH, COOK and BRANDON. 22 minutes. Open and close street in one. Go to garden in two. Personally, I think Cook's new partner, Smith, is a much better foil for his comedy than Lorenz ever was. Had the audience laughing every minute, and closed big with the dancing finish. DIGBY BELL and CO. in "It Happened in Topeka." 27 minutes f.s. C.D.F. One of the best laughing sketches we have played in some time. LEW BRICE and LILLIAN [GOHNE?] 13 minutes in one. Garden. This team have improved wonderfully since their first visit here two years ago. Held this hard spot with credit. VOLANT, and His FLYING PIANO. 9 minutes f.s. Special set. This illusion consists of a white grand piano, played by Volant, with a girl singer dressed in white standing atop it. A scrim hands in one, and with the black cyclorama, effectually hides the wires on which the piano is suspended. The piano whirls about in midair, the pianist playing all the time and the girl singing and dancing on top of the instrument. Held the audience without a break to the finish, and closed to a strong hand. An excellent novelty which should create a lot of talk. CUTS: Smith, Cook & Brandon - "Squab" and scratching girl's back.
