B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, OHIO. WEEK of Oct. 5th, 1913. John F. Royal. ROLLER SKATING BEAR 11 min. F.S. Very interesting animal act in which brown Russian bear roller skates around the stage. There is a little comedy in this act, and interesting because of its novelty. There is a great deal of sameness to the act. INDIANAPOLIS. ASHLEY & CANFIELD 17 Min. in One. Street. Two men, one working straight, other as Jew, in talking and singing act. Their opening talk is absurd and didn't get a laugh. Straight man sings popular songs and Jew sings parody afterwards. The act drags and the parodies gave what life there was. Fair closing. CHICAGO. FREDERIKA SLEMONS 20 Min. F.S. Kitchen. Two women and two men in comedy sketch entitled "Liz". Story of a girl trying to protect her sister against a rich chap, who she suspects of wrong intentions. Act gives Miss Slemons an opportunity to get over a lot of good slang. It proved very entertaining to our audience, and received a good closing. NEW HAVEN. HESS SISTERS 12 Min. in One. 3 min. F.S. While these girls are local girls, they did not get over. Their dancing was good, but their singing did not appeal to this audience. The act dragged so much it was necessary to cut out a recitation that was absolutely unnecessary. They should do more dancing and less singing. Fair closing LOUISVILLE. JOHN AND MAE BURKE 17 Min. Open in One. Go to F.S. Close in One. They do 8 min. close in one. This act was the hit of the bill. It was simply a riot. They would have been willing to listen to Burkes' piano ragtime all night. Burke forced to make a speech. INDIANAPOLIS. MR. DAVID BISPHAM 24 min. F.S. Famous baritone with accompanist. Mr. Bispham got a big advance reception. Our Sunday audience is really an unfair test for Mr. Bispham's act. In the Evening, when he made his program of a more popular nature than that of the afternoon, they were still very conservative. The singing of "Believe Me, If Those Endearing Young Charms", which ordinarily would excite more or less enthusiasm, found the audience rather cold. There was not enough applause Sunday night for Mr. Bispham to take an encore, although he sung five songs. PROVIDENCE. DIAMOND & BRENNAM 16 min. in One. A very funny man working with an attractive and clever girl in talking, singing and dancing. A good lively act with some good comedy, but they were in a hard spot with their singing, as there was so much of it before them. They even had to sing "International Rag" after the Hess Sisters - neither act had anything to replace it. Their kissing scene was very funny. Miss Brennam wears some beautiful gowns. Considering the hard spot, this act went very strong. LOUISVILLE. DR. HERRMAN 18 min. F.S. The electrical wizard. This act held the audience for a short time and many people began to walk out. Mr. Herrman's comedy, with plants in audience, got big laughs, but all in all did not excite a tremendous amount of interest. Scattered applause in closing. CLEVELAND. LOCAL MOTION PICTURES Interesting.
