HUDSON THEATRE, UNION HILL, N.J. WEEK OCT. 13, 1913. Joseph R. Smith. TOM KUMA---- Japanese contortionist who performs the majority of his tricks by passing through small rings while balancing a glass of water and similar objects on his head. Very fair act. In two 7 min. JEAN SOTHERN---- A little girl who sings several numbers and makes three costume changes. She puts lots of life in her stuff and the act went well. In one 14 min. COPELAND AND PAYTON---- Two colored comedians who offer a comedy sketch, introducing some good dancing, singing and dialogue. They carry a special drop showing the interior of a railroad dining car. The act went very well. In two 15 min. and in one 3 min. Time of act 18 min. MABELLE ADAMS AND COMPANY in "Wanda" with a cast of three women and two men. Scene the interior of a humble home in a German town. The story concerns a stubborn old father who tries to dictate the love affairs of his daughter and drives one from home while the other, much younger remains with him. After a lapse of some years the first daughter returns with wealth and fame as a violinist. She meets her old lover whom she has come back to claim, but learns that he is engaged to marry her younger sister. The young man wants to love and marry the violinist, but she lies to him by saying she gained her fame and fortune from the aid of men and that she paid dearly for it. In a scene with much dramatic possibility she sees her lover leave the house to attend a ball with her sister. She bids them goodbye and when they are gone and her father is asleep she slips away with her maid never to come back again. During the early part of the act Miss Adams renders two violin selections. The act went very well. Time of act 23 min. INTERMISSION----- "APPLE BLOSSOM GIRLS" presented by Max Witt. Five girls who sing several numbers and make two costume changes. The scene is a field of apple blossoms. The young women have good voices and their material is good. The act went good. F.S. 12 min. ALBERT PERRY AND MAUDE HANAFORD in "Reno and Return" with two men and a woman. Scene, interior of New York flat. A divorcee arrives back in New York with her divorce papers and a prospective husband. She goes to her old home where she is given a warm welcome by her former husband. They are divorced but on friendly terms, much to the disgust of the prospective husband. They sit down to a meal and the ex-husband pays his ex-wife all sorts of compliments. The prospective husband shows a nasty temper and his prospective bride takes a dislike to him. He leaves the house in a furty, but relents and returns to find the ex-wife in the arms of her ex-husband ready to begin all over again. The act is filled with good comedy and laughable situations and went very good. C.D.F. 18 min. "THE BIG SURPRISE"----Presented by Margaret Sawtelle Duffy with four men and four women. They work from the audience and the theatre aisles, only one woman being on the stage. The others dressed as patrons of the theatre and ushers. They sing, dance and have a funny dialogue that creates a furore of laughter. The act is easily the applause hit of the bill and went very big. Time of act 15 min in one. HARRY TATE'S MOTORING--- This well known act is the same big laugh hit. F.S. 20 min. HUDSONGRAPH--- O.K.
