REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK OCT. 13--W.W. PROSSER. DIAZ' MONKEYS: A very good troupe of trained monkeys who amuse, though doing nothing unusual. Special plus Cyke and good dressing of the act goes to give this offering considerable class and the number answers alright for an opener. Special in 3, 12 minutes. (Pittsburgh) BURKHART & WHITE: Another of the ceaseless flow of "two men duo", presenting piano and singing number. Their work is good enough but so much like the others we have played that it offered nothing new or novel. Got along first rate and finished moderately strong. Olio in 1, 16 min. (Open) HUGH McCORMICK & GRACE WALLCE: In a new ventriloquil offering, "The Theatrical Agent", which offers a novel method for introducing this sort of work. This act found immediate favor, held attention throughout, gaining plenty of laughter and finishing strong. Special in 2, olio in 1, 20 min. (Scranton) THOMAS P. JACKSON: (assisted by Bernard Cavanaugh) in a playlet "The Letter From Home". This is an unusually good "two-man" sketch, telling a story of interest in a most satisfactory way. This act is different and proved very acceptable. Library in 3, 16 minutes. (Cleveland) BURLEY & BURLEY: Two men "Quaint comedians". An eccentric pair who do some very good comedy stunts. They could well eliminate the greater part of their talk. All in all they proved a good comedy number, winning considerable laughter and finishing quite strong. Conservatory in 1, 11 minutes. (Akron & Youngstown) CECIL LEAN & CO: Two men, one woman in "Acting Songs". This is quite a unique offering which caught on very well, although a little slow in getting started. It took a little time for them to figure out the idea of the number, but once they caught it, the act moved along nicely, gaining laughter and applause and scoring a strong finish. Light Fancy in 3, 21 minutes. (New York) McKAY & ARDINE: Half of the old team of McKay and Cantwell with his wife, Ottie Ardine. This is an exceptionally good singing, talking and dancing number very capably presented. This act held attention throughout and finished strong. Special in 1, Palace in 4, olio in 1, 18 minutes. (Grand Rapids, Mich) AUSTRALIAN BOY SCOUTS: A "Boy In Blue" number of not any special novelty or any particular degree of merit. They did well enough, but the whole idea is stale and has been seen so often in various forms that it did not make any special appeal. A large number of our patrons seemed anxious to get away before the act finished. Special in 5, 9 minutes. (Cincinnati) PATHE WEEKLY: O.K.
