236 B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Oct 27, 1913 Cleveland, Ohio SIX ABDALLAHS - - 7 minutes, Palace in 4. Six men, all arabs. A rather routine acrobatic and tumbling act of conventional nature. However, satisfactory and closed to good applause. (Open) BURNHAM & ERWIN - - 15 minutes in 1. Man and woman. They open with a piano specialty which is not very strong. Both dress the act pleasingly and the man has a good "Harry Lauder" line of talk. The woman is a foil for his act. (Chicago) EDWARDS ABELES & CO - - Sketch "He Tried to be Nice". 20 minutes in C.D.F. Man and woman. Amusing all the way through. A husband who tries to treat his wife with unusual consideration, succeeds only in arousing her suspicions and making her angry. The acting is broad and farcical. The sketch is easily the best of the bill and closed strong. (Buffalo) DOOLEY & SAYLES - - 25 minutes in 1. Palace. He should be watched closely. He talks to the patrons, jumps in the boxes and annoys people and has many peculiar ideas about lighting up the entire theatre so that he can see the audience. Makes uncalled for remarks boosting local saloons. Dooley was so much better than Deagon and Deagon fell so flat after Arcadia that I had to put Dooley down in the place Deagon was scheduled to hold. Dooley has some very funny lines but could consistently tone his remarks and cutout a lot of suggestive talk. (Open) ARCADIA - - 35 minutes. Exterior Scene. Garden in 4. A musical act with 5 women and 6 men in instrumental song and dance features. Could be improved somewhat by the introduction of more popular music, as it "lags" a little in the classics. A feature that "gets over" in the lading [leading] of the orchestra by a woman. (Syracuse) ARTHUR DEAGON - - 15 minutes in 1. Street. An operatic burlesque not at all clever and some old and uninteresting stuff which barely "gets him over". The act was not received favorably. although Mr. Deagon works hard with a poor vehicle. After the afternoon show we shifted him up to the spot held by Dooley & Sayles. He was an absolute frost in this position. (New York) HERZOG'S RUSSIAN STALLIONS - - 20 minutes in 4. Wood. Circus ring. A beautiful group of horses who perform admirably and the act is enjoyed and appreciated. Closed strong. (Pittsburg) PATHE'S WEEKLY
