REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK OCT. 27, 1913..W.W. PROSSER. McRae & Clegg: Man and woman, straight and comedy wheel offering. Miss Clegg is an exceptionally pretty girl who is an excellent rider and makes a fine appearance. Comedian introduces a lot of very clever comedy. This act is about the best of its kind I have ever seen. Punctured by liberal applause throughout and scores a very strong finish. Garden in 5, 8 min. (Cincinnati) Rae Elinor Ball: Woman violinist who makes a very good appearance and demonstrates unusual ability. Unassuming in manner but very artistic in playing. Rendered several numbers all of which went big. This act is a credit to any bill. Strong finish. Olio in 1, 16 min. (Cleveland) Hale Horcross & Co: Two men, one woman in a farcical playlet, "Love In The Suburbs" This act is decidedly overdrawn and it requires an unusual stretch of imagination to conceive of it within the realms of possibility. There were quite a number of laughs but they came, apparently from the less intelligent. All in all, the act just about got by with no finish to speak of. Kitchen in 3, 18 min. (Toledo) Doris Wilson & Co: In the singing skit, "Through The Looking Glass". There are three women in this offering. Barring the old mirror idea, and the closing trio, there is not much to the act. Did not catch on to any extent, although they finished moderately strong. Open in 1, special in 4, 14 min. (Cleveland) Jimmie Lucas: Parodist and general line of "nut" stuff. He works a good deal like Jim Dooley, and also resembles him through his aptitude for off-color material. He got along very well, in fact, scored quite emphatically, but not with the better element in the house. Strong finish. Olio in 1, 12 min. (Chicago) Mercedes: Assisted by Mlle. Stantone. (Thought transference offering) Woman is placed, blindfolded, at the piano on the stage, and the man works in the audience. He asks people throughout the house, for the name of all kinds and classes of musical selections. The titles are whispered to him, and he immediately conveys them to his co-worker who instantly responds by playing them on the piano. This is, by all odds, the best telepathy exhibition ever seen here. If it is a trick, it is unquestionably a great one, and if the work is on the square, it is still more remarkable. The act should create a lot of talk. There is no question as to its being an unusual novelty. Went well throughout and finished strong. Light Fancy in 3, 21 min. (Cincinnati) Diamond & Brennen: Man and woman in a singing, talking and dancing number of exceptionally good comedy value. They had everything their own way throughout, securing liberal laughter and plenty of applause throughout, and rounding out a strong finish. Street in 1, 16 min. (Atlanta) Three Alex: European novelty equilibrists. This offering is of unusual merit. All the tricks are different from the usual run. The three young men in this act make a fine appearance. Their paraphernalia is showy and attractive. Palace in 5, 7 min. (Cincinnati) Pathe Weekly: O.K.
