[Letterhead] Report on acts playing The Scenic Temple, week of October 27, 1913. Show seen by C.L. McNally. Charles Weber. Works in Garden in full stage. 15 minutes. He opens by coming on stage in a fake auto, which is very ridiculous. He proceeds to do many good juggling tricks that are "on the level", mixing them with just enough comedy, and "fake" stunts to keep the interest up. He closes with the stunt of catching apples thrown from the house on a fork in his mouth. He has a "plant" in the balcony who hits him squarely on the head, causing much applause and laughter. A very good act, and it was very well received. Stewart and Keeley. Man and woman. Work before plush drop in 1 1/2. 14 minutes. Dancing as follows: Indian by woman, cowboy by man and woman, impersonation of "how George Cohan and James K. Hackett would dance if they did" by man. Dancing good, but attempt at singing very poor indeed. The act would be better if it cut the singing, and stuck to dancing. On the whole, a good act. Went good. Taylor and Brown. Open in special drop in one, go to special drop in 2, representing curtain of picture theatre. On this they show a piece of film which is not good, and proceed to get some fun out of it. Singing and talking. 15 minutes. Billed "The Traveling Man's Flirtation" Well received. Majestic Musical Four. Presenting the descriptive overture, as a feature of their act, entitled "The Fox Hunt" Four men. Three straight. One Blackface. Work in C.D.F. in full stage. Preliminary playing on trumpets, trombones, xylophones, and cornets--good. Saxaphone solo is very good. Then proceed to descriptive overture "The Fox Hunt". This is played on the xylophones, using trumpets, and effects to describe the hunt from daybreak to the capture of the fox, and the return home. Some of the numbers introduced are "The Anvil Chorus", "The Melody Of Love", and a selection from I Pagliacci. This last number is beautiful, and brought down the house. A Very Good Act., and it went very big. 20 minutes.
