Report on acts playing The Scenic Temple, week of November 6,1913. Seen by C.L.McNally. Mr. and Mrs. David Ellwyn. In the comedy sketch"Suppressing The Press" This is a very interesting piece, and is very cleverly presented. It deals with the efforts of a couple to keep the other from seeing the paper as each has gotten into a scrape, and wishes the other not to know about it. It is very funny. Also in the set is a young man, who does well with a minor part.Runs 18 minutes in C.D.F. set. A well dressed act. Pleased. Gaiety Trio One straight man,one does Italian street singer, and one comedian Singing, talking, and comedy. Singing good, especially that of the comedian, who sung a very good song, and that of the "street-singer,whose comic song was liberally applauded. This is a good act,and was well received. Ursona and D'Osta. One. Man and Woman. 16 minutes. Italian street musicians. Open behind wings, song by woman, accompanied by man on harp. Come on stage, harp solo by man-good. Song in spotlight by woman-good . Harp solo with harp covered with cloth, and man blindfolded-scored. Close with "Silver Threads Among The Gold" by both. Act is good, and seemed to please. Went very good. Stan Stanley Trio. One and full stage,18 to 20 minutes. Open with man coming on stage to do some tricks in magic. Plant(Mr. Stanley) in front row begins to guy him. Some very funny comedy talk follows, the outcome of which is that Mr. Stanley is induced to come on to the stage,"to help the magician" Act goes to full, after some more comedy, part of which is a leap from the stage to the aisle, fully ten feet, which get s roars of laughter. Bounding bed used. Woman appears in pretty costume, does some tumbling on the bed, when Mr. Stanley(still keeping up the part of the man from the audience) wants to try his luck. He does some tumbling with is a genuine riot. He closes with an encore of the same. This finish is great, and the act gets away with as big a hand at the finish as any act that we have ever played. There is not a dull moment in the whole act. This act is a riot. Mr. Stanley's Assistants are very capable, and he is a comedian hard to beat.
