68 HYDE & BEHMAN's Week Commencing November 17th, 1902. FLOOD BROTHERS Acrobats and Pantomimists. A strong opening act; both very clever in their line, foot balancing being a feature. Their comedy work is exceptionally good, which is rarely the case with this style of performers; laughter was spontaneous and continuous; open with full stage, close in one. Time 12 minutes. MR. & MRS. ALFRED KELCY In sketch "Uncle Phineas". This is a new presentation for this house; the stage set discloses two rooms and the farce gives a double part to Mr. Kelcy, who makes a novel change of costume before the audience, which makes a hit. The situations are laughable and the climax makes a decided hit. Full stage. The blood-curdling effect produced with a poker and coal scuttle in the murder scene is very funny. Time 20 minutes. CHARLES ERNEST Tramp Comedian. One of the many, who has a little new stuff, which takes but fairly. His monologue is the best part of his act; works in one. Time 13 Min FANNY RICE Star Comedienne. Her first appearance at our house.; her act is of a very novel character and is amusingly mysterious. The dark changes occupy considerable time however, which are a detriment. Miss Rice commences with a recitation of a horse race, but lacks the rhetorical power in this line that she possesses as a singer. I consider the act a pleasing one, but nor of a superlative character. Full stage; time 18 minutes. CHARLES B. WARD The Bowery Boy. His is a capital singer, but has woven into his act too much chaff, to the exclusion of his music, which it is a delight to hear; always makes a hit here, particularly with the "gods", to whom he appears to make a special overture. Works in one; time 16 Min LEWIS MCCORD & CO. In "Her Last Rehearsal". An unusually funny skit, which makes a most decided hit here. The studied awkwardness of Miss Mackenzie is so carefully done, as to smack of genuineness. The Stage Manager of Mr. McCord shows the genius of an artist and is most true to life. The stage setting is natural in its barrenness and the bits oif business are frequent and funny. The acting of Romeo is of a very poor order, which is the only weak spot in the act. Full stage; time 29 minutes. JOHN KERNELL Irish Alderman. Same as ever; has some new stuff in his monologue, but his songs are of an ancient vintage; but it matters little what John has to offer here, it is always accepted with a rush of enthusiasm from pit to dome. In one; time 13 minutes. AL LEECH & 3 ROSEBUDS In Schoolroom Sketch. Makes a hit; Leech as clever as ever as a dancer, and the four sing well together; his stair climbing act is of the best in that line of work. Opens Full stage; close in one. 25 min LOOP THE LOOP (Lottie Brandon) Act of a nondescript character, seems to interest from its novelty as well as mystery; May make a decided sensation in some houses; keeps the audience guessing, which in itself is of merit. A hard act to pass upon. Full stage. Time 8 minutes. Henry W. Behman
