71 71 REPORT ON SHOW KEITH'S THEATRE, PROVIDENCE, R. I., NOVEMBER 24, 1902. BY (CHAS. LOVENBERG) Very good bill, all in all. Stereopticon. Not required. Kelly Brothers. Bag punching act in which they do some new tricks making a pleasing act. 15 min. full stage, 3 shows. Bernard Williams. Card and Billiard ball manipulator. He sings songs during which he does his tricks and has a lot of funny talk which gives his act a little air of novelty. Pleasing three a day turn. 12 min. in one, 3 shows. Jake and Jane Bernard. Dutch comedian and soubrette. This act just escapes being bad. His material is all very old and at best the turn may be classed as fair. Open in three close in one, 17 min. 3 shows. The Chamberlins. Rope manipulators, lassoing, etc. An act entirely out of the ordinary and for that reason must be classed as good. Open full stage, closes in one, 12 min. 3 shows. Gorman & Lawson. This act is a little better than I had been led to expect. They open very tamely but wake up quite a little bit, at the finish of their act. It ought to be in the three a day class, in which case, it would be called very good. 17 min. full stage 2 shows. Sophie Burnham. This act like, Gorman & Lawson's, opens very tamely , in fact, the woman's attempt at acting is absurd, but when they get to their dancing and acrobatic work the act pans out very well. The woman is an exceptionally clever contortionist, and high kicker, and they made something of a hit. 14 min. full stage 2 shows. Claudius & Corbin. Banjo players who make good with the audience but from a musician's standpoint UI think they are a colossal bluff. Their work will not bear analysis. They do not compare with Fred Stuber. 12 min. in one,, 3 shows. The Harmony Four. From the standpoint of applause this act was the hit of the bill. The singing is good, as well as the comedy, and they introduce some good instrumental work and effective dancing. Open in three, close in one, 27 min. 2 shows. WEnona & Frank. Rifle shots. Unquestionably the best in the business. The woman is exceptionally fine and they go strong here. 15 min. xx full stage, 3 shows. John Ford. Novelty clog dancer. Very fine. Made a hit. 10 min. in one, 2 shows. Eva Williams & Jack Tucker. In 'Driftwood." Comment upon this act is superfluous. can only say they are as excellent as ever. Full stage, 25 min. 2 shows. Lew Sully. Monologue comedian and parodist. Made quite a hit to-day in a most difficult position in the bill, he didn't go on until 4:45. Very good. 15 min. in 1, 2 shows. Gillette's Dogs. The principle feature of this act is the bell playing and while they are good, in my mind, the act is over-paid, as it is not enough better than most of the other good dog acts to warrant the difference in salary, however, it is a very good act. 15 min. full stage, 3 shows. Biograph. O. K.
