NEW YORK SHOW: WEEK MARCH 9th: ----------- STEREOPTICON:- Usual collection of views. 10 minutes in one: ER-SPAULDING:- Acrobatic tramp. This is a very fair sort of an act and the fellow is quite a good acrobat, and while he is not excessively funny he gets along very nicely indeed and does some pretty good stunts. Can be called a good small act. 12 minutes; full stage. ER-STELLA RINEHART:- Wooden shoe dancing act. Same act that she has always done in the house, and it went as well as ever. 8 minutes in one. KR-KENNEDY & JAMES:- Man and woman in a comedy sketch, closing with some eccentric dancing in one. This act is only just fair. They have the idea all right, but seem to hardly reach the audience until they get nearly to the finish, when with their eccentric dancing they close [illegible] all right in an early [illegible] GNH- STINSON & MERTON:- In their usual crazy conglomeration of nonsense, which always makes people laugh. 25 Mins. open full stage, close in one. YHR- THREE MARVELOUS MERRILLS:- In a comedy bicycle act, and undoubtedly the best one of its kind in the country. They made a distinctive hit. 15 minutes; full stage. HR- AL COLEMAN:- This young fellow I think, is going to make a good performer. It is a quiet turn of stories and mimicry, and it is hardy fair to criticise him this afternoon, as he had an awful hard place in the bill, following the last of the big acts, and before he reached the audience many of them started to go out. At that he made good and can easily be called a good act. 14 minutes in one. KR- BARRINGTON & MARTELL:- Two women in an alleged comedy and singing act. These women have a very clever idea but are absolutely unable to present it at all, and I am somewhat surprised that Boston did not close them; not that they do anything dirty or coarse, but it is simply mediocre. I did not expect a great act as they were only classed as fair, but I can't even give them that classification. Of course, they had an awfully hard place on the bill where it was almost impossible for anyone to make good, and that will be rectified to-morrow, but I don't think that the act will ever be any good for us. 21 mins. open full stage; close in one. GRE-BONGO & LEO:- Two men in an acrobatic and aerial comedy act. They endeavor to imitate Frobel & Ruge, and while they are not nearly as good as these performers they manage to reach the audience after they get onto the bars on the trapeze and close very good. 14 minutes in one. NH:- LAPETITE ADELAIDE:- Fancy and toe dancer, and a very good one. This style of act never seems to make much impression with audiences, still she looks nice and is certainly a very clever dancer. 8 Mins. F. S., S. K. HODGSON.
