CRITICISM OF 1ST SHOW. KEITH'S THEATRE, PHILA., PA. MAR. 9TH. Al Walz-12 mins.-Gar. in 3-Roller skater. He uses unicycle and bicycle skates. Good ac. Margaret Scott-Mulatto soloist; good most anywhere on any bill. We would give her a better placr if we had one. Rissonetti & Newman- 12 mins.-Gar in 4-Novelty acrobats-two men-also hand balancers. We had to cut out the posing in the cabinet, for it interfered with Sandow's act. Good act. W. D. Hall-13 mins. in one-Blackface monologist; not a howling success. Had to cut some of his talk. Weakest act on the bill. Callahan & Mack-20 mins. -Ownset-Two men, in same old act, went very well. Herbert & Willing-15 mins. in one-Two men, working blackface, in a crazy singing, talking and dancing act. They made good at 2.15. Kathryn Osterman-25 mins. C.D. F. in 3-and a "man", in a sketch entitled "The Editor."This sketch is brought up to date to coincide in place and name with Augustus Thomas's late trouble at New Rochelle with Editor Scott. Sketch is a good one and went well. Tom Moore-12 mins. in one-Prize winning coon shouter, probably the best of his kind. Eugen Sandow-29 mins. (scheduled time)-Spec. set-Feature; second week. Did his posing in the cabinet first, then lectured for thirty minutes and wound up with half of his spectacular exhibition. Packed the house again to-day. His lecture is the weakest part of his act. Crane Bros. & Belmont-20 min. in one-Three men in a sketch "The Mudtown Minstrels." The set is indescribable, being simply a fearful bunch of foolishness and nonsense. Following Sandow, they worked in some good stuff at his expense. Went well. Mary Hampton & Co.-23 mins. C.D.F. in 3-Sketch, entitled "The Melodrama." Two men and a woman. Her reputation is well known. This sketch is an excellent one and made more than good. Raymond & Caverly-18 mins. in one-Named by M. J. Keating "the Roger Bros. of vaudeville," which seems to be a very apt appellation. They can make good anywhere at any time. Three Rixford Bros.-12 mins.-C.D. F. in 3-Three men, acrobats, hand and head balancers. Good act. Bertie Fowler-12 mins. in one-Songs and stories. Had to cut some of her stuff. We buried her after the show, for we had plenty of good stuff without her. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Thorne-25 mins. C.D.F. in 3-Two men and two women, presenting their old sketch, and more than made good in a difficult place at 5.45. Cook & Sylvia-12 mins. in one-Man and woman, presenting a song and dance set. They dress very neatly and present a fine appearance. Fair act. Swan & Bambard-15 mins.-acr. in 4-Grotesque acrobats;not a brilliant offering, but harmless at 6 o'clock. The bill is excellent throughout. It may not be quite as strong as last week, but nevertheless it is more than good. It abounds in comedy, and it can be truthfully said that the most tiresome part of the whole bill is Sandow's lecture. H. A. DANIELS.
