313 CRITICISM OF SHOW KEITH'S THEATRE, PHILA., PA. AUG. 17TH Claflin Sisters-12 mins.-Gar. in 2-Two girls (?), singing and dancing. Voices, a bit off; dress neatly; dancing, not much. Fair act. Good opener. Bros Le Roy-10 mins.-Gar. in 4-Ring act, good little sight act, but they lack ginger and are inclined to pose too much. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Shaw-12 mins. in one-Dancing act--wooden shoes--with a bit more of Irish brogue singing on the side. Got a small hand. Fair act, but didn't arouse much enthusiasm. Harry Waton out. Wired he could not appear hear. Wm. Leventon-12 mins.-Sheet in one-Soloist, booked by Mr. Jordan. Good voice. Sang "Toreador," "The Palms" and "The Holy City," with moving pictures which were a novelty. Fair act. Bates Musical Trio-15 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-Man, woman and girl, singing and instrumental musical act; have some novelties in light effects that are pleasing. Singing, only fair; music, good. Good act. Orville & Frank-12 mins.-Garden in 3-Man and boy, aerial balancing act; good sight act; has improved since last here; received much applause at 2.30. Kelly & Violette 15 mins. in one- (On at 4.30) Man and woman, singing duo; very neatly dressed; good voices; very acceptable, were in a hard place at 4.30. Golden Gate Quintette-18 mins.-Open in one-C.D.F. in 2-close in one-Five coons, four men and one woman; second time here; lively coon act, closing with live chickens in a bang-up finish. Isabelle Urquhart & Co.-25 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-Man and woman, in a sketch "Even Stephen. A wonderfully well preserved woman of the Augustin Daly school. She is bound to be clever. Her name assured her of a hand--which she received. The sketch was well received. Geo. Wilson-15 mins. in one-Monologue, received a hand on his entrance; delivered some good stuff. The audience was appreciative. Ward & Curran-28 mins.-C.D.F. in 3-close in one-Third time here; always go big. A good, strong act. Chas. T. Aldrich-15 mins.-Spec. set-Opened with quick changes of costume; went to painting. Impersonations and painting do not amount to much. Finished with juggling, at which he is best. Was very good, but not the monstrous hit we expected. Should stick to one line of work. Blockson & Burns-15 mins.-Landscape in 4-Set Tree R.-Same old act, finishing with a burlesque hand balancing, which always goes big here. Biograph-15 mins. in one-Pretty good set of pictures. Nothing exceptional.
