REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK SEPT. 30, 1912-W.W. PRESSER. JOHNNY BELL & ROSAMOND CARON: Acrobatic, singing and dancing. Male member is good comedy acrobat, but wastes half the time in "stalling". The woman is excess. Just got by and that was all. Garden in 5, 10 minutes. (Open) Lew Hoffman: "The Hat Maniac". Good act of its kind, but all old stuff. A fine imitation of Paul LaCroix. Went fair, and finished moderately strong. Street in 1,10 min. (Syracuse) LINTON & LAURENCE: Well-known team in "the Piano Store". Same old act without even a change in the musical numbers. Did pretty well, finishing fairly strong. Fancy in 3,16 min. (Pittsburgh) VAN HOVEN: The "Mad Magician". His success was immediate, in fact he started the show. Went big throughout and finished strong. Street in 1,14 minutes. (Louisville) KIRKSMITH SISTERS: Six girls, instrumental and vocal work. Good appearance, and musicianly delivery. Very good act of its kind which went well throughout. They lack snap, however, and could put their numbers over more effectively. Finished strong. Special in 4, close in 1,20 minutes. (Cincinnati) HENRY E.DIXEY: Mono-Drama-Vaud-Ologue. A little of everything. Reception at opening, and close attention throughout. Applause after each "bit", and a good, round finish. Not a big hit, but satisfactory. Light, Fancy in 2,16 min. (Chicago) SHERMAN, VAN & HYMEN: Three young men. Made a distinct hit. Piano and singing. Went like a whirlwing throughout. Very strong finish. Olio in 1 14 minutes. (Cincinnati) THREE PARREL SISTERS: European novelty aerial act. Excellent closer. All tricks capably presented. Held attention throughout, scoring strong finish. Palace in 5, 11 minutes. (Springfield, Mass) PATHE WEEKLY: O.K.
