C.E. BARUS PHILADELPHIA SHOW OCT 7 1912 DELMAR & DELMAR. 6 min. F.S. Two clean-cut young chaps who work on the high parallel bars. This is one of the best novelty acrobatic acts we have had this season, as all their work is clean-cut and some of the stunts introduced are thrillers, Open the show great for us and plenty good enough to close with, if necessary. RICHARDS & KYLE. 15 min:in one. A very pretty girl who sings well and a good comedian. An amusing line of patter, ending with some good song selections. Could hold a better spot with credit. Laughs all through the act and a strong finish. JUSTICE NOTE:- Having seen Richards & Kyle at Providence last Thursday night, I was so disappointed with the way they appealed to the Providence audience that I moved them up to number two on this weeks bill instead of playing them six where I had intended. After having seen the way they went with a cold Monday bunch in a hard spot to-day, I believe their showing in Providence was not their fault but, with apologies to Charlie Lovenberg, the fault of his audience. Had I not seen the act in Providence first, I should have considered it, as I do consider it, a very good act and one that should by rights go further down the bill than the number two spot. I am writing this note in a spirit of fairness, as after my return from Providence, I criticised the act adversely. But after the way they went with the audience here to-day, I think that my criticism was unjust and the act is such that it can be played with satisfaction in any vaudeville house in America." (SIGNED) Harry T.Jordan THE LANGDONS 15 min F.S. Carry an elaborate drop and a prop automobile which gives material for a lot of fun. Constant laughter throughout their work which was for the most part now and different from what they have presented here before. A good act on the upper half of any bill. Closed to laughter and applause. BERT TERRILL 9 min in one. Dresses in peasant costume. Good line of songs with yodling and falsetto work. Each selection was well received. Hold this spot very neatly and closed with a good yodling song. WILLIS FAMILY. 18 min F.S. This is a very classical instrumental act. All four make a fine appearance and play various instruments, including violin, piano, cello, banjos guitars, drums; in fact, a whole orchestra. Carry also an artistic set, representing an interior of an Irish cottage at the stage left. Closed strong. MACK & WALKER 15 min in one. Advance applause, These people are great favorites here and their sketch is along the old lines but just as clever and pleasingly put over, both patter and songs. Closed to a big hand. MRS LANGTRY 23 min F.S. Mrs Langtry's sketch is thoroughly English and may not be altogether understood except by the Suffragette part of our audiences but she got out of it all their was and is fairly well supported. She, herself, is a wonder in physical charm and personal magnetism and their is no doubt but what she is a big drawing card and will remain so. ROONEY & BENT 18 min One Presenting the 1912 edition of "AT THE NEWS STAND." Just the act needed to liven the bunch up after Langtry Went big all the way through as is customary for them in this house and ended with three encores and a sppech. EUGENE TRIO 7 min F.S. Two men work straight, one clown comedy. Comedy is fair, getting a few scattered laughs, but their work on the triple bars is very expert and makes a good closer. KINETOGRAPH About up to the standard. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a very classy show and should suit all the requirements for a Langtry Week in spite of the immense competition both indoors and out and extremely hot weather for this time of year.
